WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's aides and Democrats accused "MAGA Republicans" of being responsible for a blistering report about the 81-year-old's cognitive decline, as reported by the New York Post.

A recent report by The Wall Street Journal, "Behind Closed Doors, Biden Shows Signs of Slipping," claimed that during his last three recent meetings with congressional leaders, the president mumbled inaudible things, zoned out for long periods amid the speeches, and misread administration policies.

During a press call with CNN on Wednesday, June 5, the Biden campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez, denounced the report saying, "I'll just say that it says a lot that the only people willing to make these false claims are Trump's MAGA Republicans in Congress."

President Biden's age and mental fitness raised concerns after former special counsel Robert Hur released the report on the incumbent's mishandling of classified documents. Hur did not bring any charges against the incumbent but described him as an "elderly man with poor memory."

Biden allies accuse Republicans of concocting the WSJ report on Joe Biden's declining mental acuity

Biden ally, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, took to X (formerly Twitter) to write, "Many of us spent time with @WSJ to share on the record our first-hand experiences with @POTUS, where we see his wisdom, experience and strategic thinking. Instead, the Journal ignored testimony by Democrats, focused on attacks by Republicans, and printed a hit piece."

On X, White House communications director Ben LaBolt noted, "What a surprise — Republicans employing their election-year messaging strategy that contradicts their own prior words about [Biden]," retweeting former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy's claim to WSJ that Biden was "not the same person."

Democratic Sen Patty Murray echoed the criticism and wrote, "Surprise, surprise — everyone attacking @POTUS is a Republican with an agenda."

She claimed, "I made clear to the @WSJ regarding the January meeting on Ukraine that the President was absolutely engaged & ran that meeting in a way that brought everyone together. I'm not quoted—I wonder why."

Instances of President Joe Biden's gaffes

There are some high-profile instances where the octagenarian looked confused and made several gaffes. In his fundraiser speech in February, Biden falsely indicated that Francois Mitterrand and Helmut Kohl were still the French president and German chancellor despite them leaving office in the 1990s.

In another instance, he called Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi the "president of Mexico" during a press conference denying Hur's special counsel report. Similarly, in May, Biden made another blunder by calling North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un the President of South Korea.

Moreover, last month, the incumbent used his executive privilege to block the release of Biden-Hur interview tapes, claiming the Republicans would use it to attack him.

Amid his reelection bid, voters have expressed concerns about Biden's cognitive fitness and age.

Around 73% of registered voters considered the oldest serving president "too old to be an effective president," as per a New York Times/Siena College poll from March. On the other hand, 42% found that his Republican opponent, Donald Trump, was too old for another term.

Internet slams Biden aides and Democrats as they claim MAGA Republicans are behind the WSJ report

One wrote, "It’s obvious to everyone!" and another said, "Do they think all Americans have all lost our hearing? Every time he opens his mouth he says something we can’t understand because it makes no sense."

A person expressed, "Of course, we the people don't have eyes and ears when we watch the president. Other countries write skits about Bidens' mental health decline. Biden mumbles, stumbles, and spaces out. We can't understand half of what he is saying, and the constant lies are unbearable."

"Release the tapes and let us judge for ourselves then, damn," noted someone else, referring to Biden's interview tapes with former special counsel Hur.

One more offered, "Hard to deny the obvious. They would be better off just admitting it," while another person wrote, "Blames Republicans? LOL! The American people can see it for themselves. Every. Single. Day."

An individual claimed. "Everyone sees it!!! Stop gaslighting America It’s obvious Biden is slipping fast."

"Reality is not the fault of any political group. Denying reality however is the speciality of many political groups. Bidens decline is clearly on display and Democrats trying to pretend he’s fine only makes them look dishonest and rather silly," offered a netizen.
