Biden campaign chairs deny rumors President is considering dropping out of race, say 'he's in it to win'
WASHINGTON, DC: President Joe Biden's top campaign advisors addressed speculation about his commitment to the 2024 presidential race.
Biden's Campaign Chair, Jen O'Malley Dillon, reaffirmed the president's dedication to the race while Senator Chris Coons provided additional support.
Jen O'Malley Dillon says Joe Biden is 'more committed than ever'
Both O'Malley Dillon and Coons noted Biden's strength and commitment, countering leaks and speculation about his potential withdrawal.
"The president's in this race. You've heard him say that time and time again, and I think we saw on display last night exactly why, because Donald Trump is not going to offer anything new to the American people," Dillon, Biden's Campaign Chair, stated on 'Morning Joe.'
"He's the same person he was in 2020. He's the same person he was at the debate stage," she added, according to Fox News.
O'Malley Dillon stressed there was no question about Biden's commitment to defeating Trump.
"We believe in this campaign we are built for the close election that we are in, and we see the path forward," she stated.
"The president is the leader of our campaign and of the country, and he is clearly in our impression, and what we've built, and in our engagement with voters, he's the best person to take on Donald Trump and prosecute that case and present his vision versus what we saw last night," she further noted.
The clarification came following a report that suggested Biden's family was contemplating his dignified departure.
Senator Chris Coons backs Joe Biden's leadership after indicating he's considering droping out
Senator Chris Coons, D-Del, spoke at the Aspen Security Forum, suggesting Biden was carefully evaluating his options hours after the interview.
"I think our president is weighing what he should weigh, which is: Who is the best candidate to win in November and to carry forward the Democratic Party’s values and priorities in this campaign?” said Coons.
However, Coons reiterated his support for Biden, praising his accomplishments over the past three-and-a-half years.
“He has been an exceptional president. He has campaigned effectively, he has led effectively,” Coons noted, citing Biden’s leadership at the recent NATO summit.
“He chaired … meeting after meeting, three days of the NATO summit — strongest NATO has ever been — did a press conference, did campaign events, did campaign rallies, and there are folks still saying he’s not strong enough or capable enough to be our next president. I disagree,” he added.
Internet reacts to Joe Biden's commitment to stay in the race and win
Following Dillion's remarks, he posted a statement on the social platform X to clarify his position. "I fully support the President. He's told me he's in it to win it. I'm with him 100% because I know he can beat Trump just like he did last time," Coons wrote.

Despite this, internet reactions were mixed with some users mocking Biden's unwillingness to drop out of the race and other criticizing the back and forth happening in the party.
One reacted to Coons' post, saying, "This sounds like something a hostage would type up."
Another noted the back-and-forth within the Democratic Party, writing, "My goodness there is so much back-and-forth with the Democrats right now. I feel like I’m watching a tennis match!"
A different user commented, "Sounds like Joe's trying to play it both ways. Committed, yet also seeking feedback? That's some next-level fence-sitting right there. I mean, who wouldn't want to know what people think, but still keep the door open to quitting? Classic Biden move."
One more added mocking at Biden, "Obviously not paying attention to the input from 70% of voters."
