WASHINGTON, DC: Country music star Billy Ray Cyrus turned heads—and not in a good way—at the Make America Great Again Victory Rally held on the eve of President-elect Donald Trump’s second inauguration.

The 'Achy Breaky Heart' hitmaker joined a roster of country legends and performers taking part in the inauguration festivities. Carrie Underwood and Lee Greenwood are set to perform during the swearing-in ceremony and acts like Jason Aldean, Rascal Flatts, and Gavin DeGraw are slated for inaugural balls.

Billy Ray performed at Trump's rally at Capital One Arena. Sharing the stage with Kid Rock and the Village People should’ve been a highlight, but instead, he got people talking for all the wrong reasons.

Fans shocked by Billy Ray Cyrus' appearance at MAGA Victory Rally

Before the rally, Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn posted a photo with Billy Ray Cyrus and her husband, Charles Blackburn — and it didn’t take long for fans and other netizens to point out the singer's odd look.

One wrote, "I thought that was Rob Zombie. Billy Ray lookin ROUGH," and another quipped, "Why does Billy Ray look like he's been shipwrecked on a deserted island for the last ten years?"

"What happened to Billy Ray Cyrus? Has he been living under a bridge? Clean yourself up, BRC!" someone else added.

"Why does Billy Ray Cyrus look like he’s on set of Halloween Resurrection?" read a comment.

"Yikes. It’s been a rough few years for the achy breaky heart huh?" another person expressed. One more joked, "I remember when Billy Ray Cyrus was hot... Now he looks like he wants to start a death metal band for people who really need caffeine or a nap."

Billy Ray Cyrus divorce drama with Firerose

To be fair, Billy Ray has been through the wringer lately. His high-profile divorce from Australian singer Firerose last year was nothing short of messy. The split dominated headlines as both sides hurled ugly accusations at each other.

Leaked audio revealed Billy Ray lashing out at Firerose, calling her a "selfish f***ing b***h," while she accused him of filing for divorce just a day before she was set to undergo a preventative double mastectomy, according to Whiskey Riff.

Billy Ray defended himself, claiming he was at his "wit’s end" and accusing Firerose of being a "fraud" who used the Cyrus name for her own benefit. He also alleged she went on a wild spending spree after the split, racking up nearly $100,000 in charges—though apparently $50,000 of that was a billing error by her law firm.

When the dust finally settled in August 2024, Billy Ray called the entire marriage a "scam."

"This has been absolutely the most crazy insane scam I have ever heard of. Let alone the fact I’m right in the center and basically the target of the scheme. It’s unfortunate it played out this way. Not only was it a web of lies that put me in physical danger, it was a matter of the heart. Love is blind, that’s for sure," the 63-year-old said.

Healing relationship with daughter Miley Cyrus

If the divorce wasn’t enough, Billy Ray Cyrus' relationship with his daughter, Miley Cyrus, hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing either. Rumors of a father-daughter estrangement have floated around for years, especially after the two famously costarred on Hannah Montana.

But in June 2024, Miley set the record straight during an appearance on David Letterman’s 'My Next Guest Needs No Introduction'. When Letterman brought up the rumored rift, the 'Wrecking Ball' singer denied any estrangement and chalked up the buzz to the way stories are spun.

"My parents served us and sacrificed so much for us. Anything we dreamed of, they made possible," Miley said. She even poked fun at her father saying, "My dad has great hair, and I got that. I also inherited the narcissism from him."
