LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blake Lively has been in the news for the past few weeks but for all the wrong reasons.

The 36-year-old has reportedly attracted criticism and negative reactions because of the way she has marketed the ‘It Ends With Us’ movie that deals with domestic abuse issues.

Blake Lively says she got ‘monkeys’ on ‘Gossip Girl’ set

Amid her apparent rift with ‘It Ends With Us’ co-actor and director Justin Baldoni that has led to intense backlash, an old video of Blake Lively has resurfaced online.

The clip posted on social media is from the time when the popular series ‘Gossip Girl’ used to air, as reported by The Mirror.

During a panel discussion with her castmates, the actress spoke about her casting in the drama series.

“Another promise was no pet monkey, Chuck has a matching pet monkey with coordinating outfits. And I was like 'I would love to be part of the show, but I can't act with a monkey’,” she shared, before jokingly stating, “And then I got a few of them.”

The publication reported that her joke did not receive appreciation from anyone. Instead, someone on stage annoyingly said, "She's got a few of them.”

But ‘The Age of Adaline’ star did not stop there as she went on to lean on Leighton Meester, before adding, “Come on, it was a joke. Lord have mercy.”

Netizens say Blake Lively should not have made ‘weird comment’

Now, people have commented on the resurfaced video.

A TikTok user reportedly said, “I remember seeing this panel with the Gossip Girl cast and thinking that was such a weird comment to make and Blake's coworkers didn't seem amused lol.”

Another TikTok user stated, “Probably not a good idea to call your coworkers monkeys and look at Leighton Meester lol. For context - she is talking about things they made the creators of Gossip Girl promise her if she agreed to do a TV show. One of them was no monkeys.”

“I always wondered why they weren’t besties in real life because Leighton is the sweetest but now I see why,” one mentioned.

"Maybe they didn’t seem amused because she ain’t close enough to make that kind of remark in the first place. That’s the worst part of it all,” a user added.

Blake Lively attracts backlash for 2016 interview

Blake Lively was also reportedly slammed for her 2016 interview alongside actor Parker Posey as they promoted ‘Cafe Society’.

When Norwegian journalist Kjersti Flaa said to the wife of Ryan Reynolds, “Congrats on your little bump,” as she was pregnant at the time, Lively did not seem impressed.

In response, she just said, “Congrats on your little bump.”

Also, the conversation between the three women did not look friendly as one person in the comment section of the YouTube video pointed out, “the fact that neither of them really make eye contact with the interviewer after she asked a question is so unbelievably rude.”

“Blake: Gets offended for being asked about her clothes Also Blake: Makes an entire press tour promoting a movie about DV about her clothes and even promoting women to put on their ‘florals’ to go watch,” another person said.

A comment read, “This is a classic high school bullying method. Acting like you totally click with your bestie right in front of the ‘third wheel’ to make them feel as excluded and ostracized and rejected as possible.”

Another comment was “If these two women can do this to a professional reporter, in front of a camera that is filming them, imagine how they treat other professional staff and ‘ordinary’ people without cameras!”
