Blake Lively trolled as she 'cried with relief' after Justin Baldoni's lawsuit dismissal: 'Not a win'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: It looks like Blake Lively just got the legal break she was praying for - and it apparently brought her to tears.
The 'Gossip Girl' alum, 37, reportedly “cried with relief” on Monday, June 9, after a judge threw out Justin Baldoni’s massive $400 million countersuit, which accused her and husband Ryan Reynolds of extortion and defamation.
“She’s obviously relieved. They both are,” a source spilled to People. “She feels vindicated.” Another insider added that the mood among Lively’s lawyers was just as upbeat, “Everyone is happy."

It was Judge Lewis J Liman who officially tossed out Baldoni’s lawsuit, putting a temporary pause on the courtroom drama between the former 'It Ends With Us' co-stars. As of this writing, Baldoni’s lawyers have yet to comment on the judge’s ruling.
Back in March, however, his attorney Bryan Freedman had slammed Lively’s attempt to shut it down as “one of the most abhorrent examples of abusing our legal system.” That said, their trial is still scheduled for March 2026.
Blake Lively’s team celebrates 'total victory'
Lively originally filed her own lawsuit back in December last year, accusing Baldoni, 41, of sexual harassment and retaliation — claims he has firmly denied. Now, after the countersuit got tossed, her lawyers Esra Hudson and Mike Gottlieb declared victory.
In a statement following the judge’s decision, they called it “a total victory and a complete vindication” for Lively. “As we have said from day one, this ‘$400 million’ lawsuit was a sham, and the Court saw right through it,” they said.
But they’re not done yet. Lively’s legal eagles are gearing up for what they call “the next round,” which involves seeking “attorneys’ fees, treble damages and punitive damages” from Baldoni and his Wayfarer Studios — whom they accuse of launching “abusive litigation.”
Furthermore, it wasn’t just the lawsuit against Lively that got smacked down. Baldoni’s separate $250 million defamation suit against The New York Times — for its coverage of Lively’s CRD complaint — was also dismissed.

When the Times article first dropped in December, Lively issued a statement. “I hope that my legal action helps pull back the curtain on these sinister retaliatory tactics to harm people who speak up about misconduct and helps protect others who may be targeted," she said at the time.
Blake Lively gets support from husband Ryan Reynolds and BFF Amber Tamblyn
Blake Lively’s inner circle has had her back throughout the chaos.
When she stopped by 'Late Night with Seth Meyers' on May 1, she hinted at the toll the whole ordeal had taken on her. “It’s been full of the highest highs and the lowest lows of my life,” she admitted, calling it an “intense year.”
Her husband Ryan Reynolds, who shares four kids with Blake, said he was in awe of how she’s handled it all.
“I’m incredibly in awe of my wife in many ways,” he told People in April. “I don’t know that I’ve met somebody stronger. And her coping mechanisms are just coffee, which is amazing to me because I don’t know how I could hold what she holds and do it with grace and strength. It’s pretty profound.”
Blake’s 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' BFF Amber Tamblyn also jumped on Instagram Stories right after the judge’s decision. “Proud of you, Blake. This is a win for women everywhere who dare to speak out," she wrote.
Blake Lively trolled on social media for her celebration
While her lawyers may be popping champagne, Lively's critics on social media promptly reminded her that it may not be time to celebrate as yet.
“He will make amendments and file again, so why is she crying with relief? She will be in more trouble the next time around with the added claim of extortion!” one Facebook user posted.
“She may feel vindicated, but this is most def not a win. The judge basically told them to amend. I hope they do,” another snarked.
“Isn’t she the one who started it all by suing in the first place?” someone else asked, while another wrote, “This is not a win. Justin’s lawyers have time to file an amended suit that will be even more damaging to her.”
“Everyone cried with this news. But for very different reasons. Blake should end this. She has lost in the court of public opinion," a comment read.
“Court of public opinion has a different say,” another added. “As a public figure, I think that holds more weight anyway.”
