Blake Lively’s ‘hurtful’ remarks during 2016 interview felt ‘like a bullet’, journalist reveals why
NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Blake Lively has come under fire from Norwegian journalist Kjersti Flaa for an interview from 2016 that she now describes as "the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced".
Kjersti who claimed to have been "belittled" by Blake, admitted that the actress' "bump" remarks "felt like a bullet". She disclosed the true reason behind her decision to release the "traumatizing" interview at this time.
However, a person close to the 'It Ends With Us' actress claimed that the reporter's "rude statement" to Lively was what sparked the conversation.
Kjersti Flaa reveals why Blake Lively's 'bump' remark was so hurtful
Norwegian reporter Kjersti Flaa, 51, posted a 4-minute "nightmare" interview with Blake to YouTube on Saturday, August 10. The post was titled 'The Blake Lively interview that made me want to quit my job.'
The viral video, which as of August 15 had received over 900,000 views, features Blake, 36, and Parker Posey, 55, who co-starred in 'Cafe Society', having a conversation with Kjersti about the 2016 Woody Allen movie.
"Sitting down with Blake Lively and her co-star Parker Posey for 'Cafe Society' (2016) is the most uncomfortable interview situation I have ever experienced," she stated in the description of the video.
Kjersti complimented a pregnant Blake during the interview, but the actress responded with a snarky remark, indicating that she was not amused by her comment at all.
The interview was recorded around the time Blake was expecting her daughter Inez, born on September 30, 2016, a few months after 'Cafe Society' hit theaters.
Kjersti began the clip by congratulating Blake on her "little bump" to which the actress replied with the remark, "Congrats on your little bump."
Kjersti revealed exclusively to Daily Mail how Blake's reply left her feeling "like a complete failure" and "paralyzed."
The 51-year-old said, "To be honest, it hurts because I obviously wasn’t pregnant and I could never get pregnant. So to me that comment was like a bullet."
She said she "felt very uncomfortable" and wanted to "leave and get out of there," but she also acknowledged that she "didn’t know how to react".
"It made me feel like a complete failure. I kept going through the interview in my head afterwards trying to figure out what I had said or done to make (Lively and Parker Posey) behave like that. It made no sense to me," Kjersti admitted.
Along with the mother-of-four's remark about her bump, the pair chastised Kjersti for enquiring about the movie's attire. They wer also talking more to each other than to the interviewer.
Kjersti said, "It was such a traumatizing experience to me. I was there to do a job, and they made sure to make it as difficult as possible for me to do that."
She added, "I was there so they could promote a movie. I was invited to meet them. It certainly did not feel like that. I felt belittled and ignored, and it made me question if I ever wanted to do these types of interviews again."
Blake Lively was 'annoyed' by reporter's 'little bump' comment, claims source
Although Blake Lively has not yet commented on the video publicly, a source told People that the 'Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants' star was "of course … annoyed" by the reporter's statement about her "little bump".
"You're a female journalist in Hollywood interviewing a working mom, and you can't come up with anything better to kick off the interview with than 'Congrats on your little bump?' Of course Blake got annoyed," the source said.
The source added, "It's truly such a rude statement. She is pregnant with a child. If you feel the need to acknowledge that she's pregnant, at least do it respectfully."
The interview resurfaced after Blake's obscene actions on the 'It Ends With Us' press tour, which included leveraging the domestic violence movie to advertise her companies, went viral online, per OK! Magazine.
