Blake Lively’s lawyer says actress ‘moving on’ as she attended Met Gala hours after Baldoni settlement
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blake Lively’s attorney has defended her as she attended the Met Gala 2026, just hours after she settled her legal battle with her ‘It With Us’ co-star and director, Justin Baldoni.
Speaking with Entertainment Tonight, attorney Sigrid McCawley said on Thursday, May 7, “[Lively is] moving on with her life.”
Blake Lively's Met Gala appearance was a message of 'standing up' for yourself
She also claimed that the actress’ appearance at one of the fashion’s biggest nights was about “standing up and not being silenced.”
“That’s exactly what Blake is intent on doing. We wouldn’t want any woman in that position to be silenced. They should be out living their life,” McCawley added.
Blake Lively intent to expose 'the digital retaliation campaign' against her
The attorney further noted that the ‘Gossip Girl’ star’s next move is about “exposing the digital retaliation campaign here that was weaponized against her,”
“She was incredibly brave to stand up for herself in that moment and for others in the workplace and she’s going to continue to pave that path of being really bold and brave in this moment,” McCawley asserted.
Baldoni's lawyer took sarcastic dig at Blake Lively
Earlier it was alleged that Lively paid money to Anna Wintour to attend the Met Gala but later it was confirmed by a source to Us Weekly that she was invited for the event.
Meanwhile, Baldoni’s lawyer also reacted to Lively’s appearance at the May 4 annual function. Bryan Freedman reportedly said, “I don’t know that it was the wisest choice. If that's what she needs to heal, then more power to her.”
Lively and Baldoni hope to bring 'closure' with settlement
Hours before the Monday event, both the stars’ lawyers have shared a joint statement following the settlement.
“The end product — the movie It Ends With Us — is a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life. Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors — and all survivors — is a goal that we stand behind,” it read.
“We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard,” the lawyers noted, before adding, “We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments. It is our sincere hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace, including a respectful environment online.”
Lively says legal settlement 'a resounding victory for' her
A separate statement was also issued by Lively’s legal team on Thursday, which claimed the settlement “a resounding victory for” the 38-year-old.
The statement also noted that “by agreeing to this settlement, and waiving their right to appeal, Justin Baldoni and every individual defendant now face personal liability for abusing the legal system to silence and intimidate Ms Lively.”
