Blake Lively hails Baz Luhrmann

Speaking about the shoot, Black Lively shared, “I'm a very shy person, so I don’t like doing photo shoots, really. Because when I'm acting, I'm playing a character.”

“And I don't…I don't feel super comfortable in front of a camera. It's part of why I don't want to be in magazines," she continued. “I know it's not something I’m supposed to say — I mean, this is I think the first cover I've done in four years.”

“I'm just gonna go out on a limb and say Baz is my favorite director, I just love Baz so much. Because he celebrates love. Nobody does love like that,” the ‘Gossip Girl’ star added.

Netizens call Blake Lively’s Vogue cover ‘disappointing’

Despite Blake Lively praising Baz Luhrmann's work, many online reactions have been less enthusiastic.

An Instagram user commented, “I can't help but ponder again what has Blake Lively done in her own right that deserves a Vogue cover? To put it in perspective, you have to be Richanna, Michelle Obama or Lupita Nyong'o to get a vogue cover. Michelle Yeoh is a legend and has never gotten a US Vogue cover. Anna can't change.” [sic]

Another user shared, “I just aged 80 years looking at this cover.”

A user wrote, “Idk how I feel about this being the September cover.”

“nooo this had so much potential,” another user stated. [sic] Another user said, “This looks like a jewelry ad, not a Vogue cover.”

“No way this is an actual September cover 💀,” one user added.

A comment read, “So disappointing. Too much Blake, Ryan, and Hugh. Am so switched off the three of them I cannot face seeing Deadpool 3! They need to go on a holiday now until spring break 2025!” [sic]

Another commented, “Honestly sooo tired of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds’s constant shameless self-promotion. They are both C-list actors but parade themselves as much more. It’s quite baffling.” [sic]

“I mean Blake is fine but she’s not all the words this person is making her out to be. Movie star? Are you sure you don’t mean white and blond?” a person on X tweeted.

One more user added, “And this is supposed to be the September issue? What happened to September being for MAJOR FASHION ICONS? ANNA HAS LOST TOUCH. Lady Gaga's September issue was the last great September cover.”
