OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA: Blake Shelton is reaping the consequences of having friends in high places, and that can often be “humiliating.”

The ‘God’s Country’ singer, 48, who is the stepfather of Gwen Stefani’s three sons, recently recalled the time when one of their sons mistakenly FaceTimed singer Vince Gill, 67, as reported by OK! Magazine.

When Shelton and Stefani tied the knot, he became the stepdad to the ‘Just a Girl’ singer’s three sons - Kingston Rossdale, 18, Zuma Rossdale, 16, and Apollo Rossdale, 10.

In a recent interview posted by CMT’s TikTok account, Shelton opened up about when Zuma grabbed his phone to call his nanny, but accidentally dialed Vince Gill, 67.

Blake Shelton opens up about ‘humiliating’ experience

Speaking in the interview, Blake Shelton shared the incident, explaining, "He thought he was calling his nanny Vince, and he called Vince Gill.”

He recalled, "I was walking through the house and I heard Vince Gill's voice kind of laughing. I looked and I saw Zuma throw the phone down.”

The ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ hitmaker continued, "He was like, 'I don't know. There was some man that answered Vince's phone.' And I looked, and he had called Vince Gill, who was in Amsterdam — he FaceTimed him while he was in Amsterdam with The Eagles!"

Nevertheless, the Eagles singer was not offended by the faux pas, rather he found the incident to be hilarious.

As Shelton called Gill back, the ‘Hotel California’ singer laughingly told the ‘Barmageddon’ co-host, "I thought you must have been drunk or something."

The innocent mistake, however, earned Gill a lifelong fan as Shelton revealed Zuma has become one of the biggest fans of the ‘Take It Easy’ hitmaker.

"But now, a couple of years later, Zuma is the biggest Vince Gill fan in the world," Shelton shared, before noting that his stepson often wants to FaceTime his idol.

"He's like, 'Can we FaceTime him again?!' I'm like no, never again,” shared the ‘Some Beach’ singer before adding, “That was humiliating for me."

Blake Shelton admits being step-parent can be ‘hard’

Blake Shelton, despite being a doting parent to Gwen Stefani’s sons, admitted last year during an appearance on Today show, that being a stepfather can often be difficult, per OK! Magazine.

Since the boys’ biological father, Gavin Rossdale is still in the picture, Shelton often found it difficult to find his own place in the picture.

He admitted, “I've had stepparents. I think it's, in some ways, it's harder, more difficult.”

The country superstar continued, "I try to be careful about when to step back and be smart about when to step back and just talk, but no matter what, I'm always there if I'm needed.”
