LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds found themselves in the spotlight for more than just their star status during the 'SNL's 50th anniversary special amid their legal turmoil.

Their body language, analyzed by expert Judi James, reflected tension and unease, possibly stemming from the couple’s ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni, according to Daily Mail.

Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds' red carpet analysis

Judi James noted that Ryan Reynolds appeared uneasy on the red carpet, standing in a stiff pose with one hand behind his torso and another clutching his jacket hem.

"There's less scope for laughter on the red carpet here though, which might be why Blake and Ryan's body language subliminal displays suggest some awkwardness," said James.

Blake Lively’s approach to hug Reynolds included a bent hand, hinting at wariness.

However, she quickly transitioned into a more confident stance with a hand on her hip, suggesting an attempt to project defiance despite underlying discomfort.

Lively’s stylish silver gown and Reynolds’ poised demeanor contrasted with the evident tension dissected by the body language expert.

James emphasized that humor and mockery can serve as a rapport-building tool, but the couple’s body language suggested deeper concerns.

"Blake holds one arm out in an intentional gesture, letting him know in advance that she's about to hug him, but her hand is bent in a limp angle to hint at potential wariness. There is a quick hair preen gesture as she grins at Ryan's face," said James.

Fans and industry insiders have closely followed the saga, with many noting the couple’s attempt to maintain grace under pressure.

Ryan Reynold's humor as a shield during 'SNL' audience Q&A

During the 'SNL' audience Q&A, Ryan Reynolds' humor aimed to diffuse the tension.

His deadpan response to Tina Fey and Amy Poehler’s inquiry on how he is doing, "Great – why, what have you heard?" referenced the ongoing legal issues.

James observed Lively’s initial smile quickly fade, replaced by an expression of concern as she turned to her husband, hinting at genuine or acted worry.

"This converts to a wide smile and a laugh but her expression changes quickly when Ryan makes his comment," said the body language expert.

"Her smile dies and her head snaps round and upward to look at him in either acted or genuine concern," she added.

Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni's legal feud

The legal feud between Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, and Justin Baldoni has dominated headlines.

Lively has accused Baldoni of harassment while Baldoni countersued for $400 million, alleging defamation and extortion.

Her harassment claims against Baldoni have been met with strong denials while Baldoni’s lawsuit includes released text messages and allegations that Lively and Reynolds undermined his role as director of 'It Ends with Us.'

The couple’s public appearance during this time, as James highlighted, was "brave to the point of reckless."
