LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Blake Lively is reportedly content with staying out of the spotlight after being left off Taylor Swift’s 2025 Super Bowl guest list.

While their decade-long friendship has recently been under scrutiny, especially in the wake of Lively's legal battle with 'It Ends With Us' director Justin Baldoni, sources close to the actress have shared her true thoughts on the situation.

Blake Lively's decision to skip Super Bowl prioritizes Taylor Swift's big night

Despite initial speculation that there might be tension between Blake Lively and Taylor Swift, the actress had already decided not to attend the Super Bowl for a very specific reason.

A source told Daily Mail that Lively was never planning to go to the game in the first place, explaining that she didn’t want to cause any distractions for Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, during their special moment.

"Taylor is not shading Blake or is she trying to teach her a lesson. It isn't like that. Even if Taylor did invite Blake, Blake would not come," the insider said. "She would never want to make Taylor's big night – where she is going to see the love of her life play in another Super Bowl – about her. Blake would not want to overshadow Taylor ever."

Lively’s decision to lay low comes at a time when she’s navigating a complex legal dispute with 'It Ends With Us' co-star Justin Baldoni. Baldoni has filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively, claiming she used Swift’s name to exert control over the film's production.

In his lawsuit, Baldoni alleged that Lively referred to Swift as her "dragon" in a conversation and used her friendship with the singer to pressure Baldoni into accepting her direction for the film.

However, sources close to Lively have emphasized that she is prioritizing her family over the public drama. A source explained that Lively is focused on spending time with her husband, Ryan Reynolds, and their children, remaining mostly out of the spotlight for now.

The source added, "Other than that, she is staying close to home because she doesn't want to deal with the added stress. She is focused on her family and her kids right now. She knows she cannot stay in hiding forever."

Taylor Swift blindsided by involvement in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni’s legal feud

While Blake Lively has kept quiet about the legal battle, there have been reports that Taylor Swift is feeling blindsided by the situation. Sources close to the singer have suggested that she is frustrated by being dragged into the feud.

"Taylor has always been Blake’s friend, but Taylor doesn't have any involvement in the case. She wasn't part of the movie," one insider noted. "Taylor was not a producer on the film and had no creative involvement."

Another source noted that Swift was touring for her Eras Tour while the film was being shot in 2023 and 2024. "Taylor never even saw the film or a single scene from it until the movie was in theaters. She is not relevant to the case," they stated.

A separate source informed the outlet that involving Swift in Lively and Baldoni's legal dispute is "unwarranted." "While she and Blake are friends, this case is now a legal matter for the courts to resolve. Dragging Taylor into it is unnecessary and misrepresents what really happened," they said.

This follows reports that Swift attempted to help her close friend Lively "tone down" her "ballsy" demeanor years before the actress' legal struggles with Baldoni.

The 'Gossip Girl' star is currently embroiled in a heated legal dispute with her 'It Ends With Us' co-star, whom she has accused of harassment and initiating a smear campaign against her in a bombshell lawsuit filed last year.
