LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: TJ Miller — the comedian best known for playing Weasel in the Deadpool films — has seen his 2022 comments about co-star Ryan Reynolds pop back into the discourse.

In a podcast interview on 'The Adam Carolla Show', Miller notably called Reynolds “horrifically mean” and even suggested the actor was “insecure."

TJ Miller recalls Ryan Reynolds' 'weird' on-set behavior

In the interview, Miller, 43, recalled a moment on the set of 'Deadpool 2' that stuck with him. He claimed Reynolds — as his Deadpool character — directed some biting remarks toward him, as though he were actually Weasel in real life, the Daily Mail reported.

Miller quoted Reynolds as saying, “You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition that it’s funny, and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.”

Miller said he found the comment “weird” and walked off after the director called cut, leaving him wondering what sparked the mean-spirited jab.

He even floated the idea that Reynolds might be battling some insecurities. “That’s exactly why he said that,” Miller speculated, “I’m not funnier than he is at all, right? And I haven’t been in more movies than him.”

Despite the awkward on-set vibes, Miller tried to take the high road—well, sort of. “Would I work with him again? No. I would not work with him again,” he insisted. But he also admitted, “I sorta wish him well, because he’s so good at Deadpool, and I think it’s weird that he hates me.”

Miller added, “I don’t wish them any ill will. I think [Ryan] should make a Deadpool 3 and continue to make movies. I just think he doesn’t like me, and I thought it was weird how he expressed that.”

Legal drama surrounding Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively

The timing of these resurfaced comments is interesting, to say the least. They’ve come back into the spotlight just as Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively find themselves embroiled in a messy legal battle.

Lively, 37, has filed a lawsuit against her 'It Ends With Us' co-star and director Justin Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and creating a toxic work environment. Baldoni, 41, has vehemently denied the allegations and fired back with a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Reynolds, Lively, and her publicist Leslie Soane.

At the time of Miller’s controversial interview, Reynolds was riding high about his upcoming 'Deadpool' project. He had just announced that Hugh Jackman would reprise his role as Wolverine for Deadpool 3, which eventually hit theaters as 'Deadpool & Wolverine' in July last year.

Reynolds and Jackman’s bromance has been well-documented, making Miller’s strained relationship with Reynolds stand out even more.

Ryan Reynolds and TJ Miller: From feud to friendship?

In an interesting twist, Miller claimed just days after his viral interview that he and Reynolds had patched things up. During an appearance on the 'Jim Norton & Sam Roberts Show', Miller shared, “It was really cool, he emailed me the next day. It was a misunderstanding, so I emailed him back and now it’s, like, fine.”

He also insisted his initial complaints were “misconstrued” and that the whole thing was just a “weird” story from the set.

Fast forward to November, and Miller had done a complete 180. After the runaway success of 'Deadpool & Wolverine', Miller was interested in reprising his role for a fourth film.

Appearing on SiriusXM’s 'The Bonfire', he gushed about Reynolds. “We talked a little while ago,” Miller said. “I think him asking me, I think he’s just been such a good friend right now that I think it would be really, I think that would be awesome.”
