LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: The ongoing speculation around the casting of Britney Spears' highly anticipated biopic has taken an unexpected turn, with new insights revealing why the pop icon is rejecting Millie Bobby Brown for the role of her younger self.

Sources close to the project have shared with Daily Mail, that while the 'Stranger Things' star has made it her "life mission" to play the pop star, the 'Toxic' hitmaker remains unconvinced that the 21-year-old is the right fit for it.

Despite Millie Bobby Brown's persistent efforts, including a major transformation in her look and using family connections to help her land the part, it seems that Britney Spears has her own reservations.

"Millie Bobby Brown is so desperate to play Britney that those close to her feel it has become her life mission right now. She believes she was born for this role," an insider shared. 

However, the big hurdle for Brown is none other than Spears herself. According to the source, the pop princess doesn’t see the resemblance between herself and the 21-year-old actress. "The problem is, Britney isn't on board. She doesn’t see the resemblance," the insider added.

While Brown has "not spoken directly with Britney," the singer, who plays a significant role in the project, has "seen her audition tape," as per the tipster. 

They went on to claim that "desperate" Brown is doing everything she can to win over the 43-year-old pop star, even going so far as to overhaul her appearance. The 'Damsel' actress unveiled a new blonde hairstyle earlier this month – one that closely resembles Spears' – and has been showing it off on social media.

"Her new look is clearly an attempt to show she can embody Britney," the source said.

Millie Bobby Brown has reportedly attempted to use her famous father-in-law, Jon Bon Jovi's "connections" to help her secure the role. 

"She has been trying to leverage connections through her well-connected father-in-law in a bid to land the role that she has dreamed of long before a biopic was even announced," the source claimed. 

However, none of Brown's efforts seem to be working. "The casting process has been going on for months, and if Millie were the perfect choice, they would have cast her by now," the mole shared.

"They can make her look like Britney with prosthetics and makeup, but ultimately, Britney will make the final call, and she’s not convinced by Millie right now," they stated.
