Britney Spears spent a wild night partying with Diddy before her trainwreck 2007 MTV VMAs performance

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Britney Spears reportedly partied till sunrise with Sean “Diddy” Combs, Paris Hilton, and 50 Cent a day before she stumbled through one of the most disastrous performances in MTV VMA history.
The “Toxic” queen was grinning ear-to-ear in newly resurfaced photos from September 7, 2007, snapped inside Jet nightclub in Las Vegas, shoulder-to-shoulder with the Bad Boy Records mogul himself.
The afterparty didn’t stop there. Later that night, Britney rolled with Diddy, Paris, and 50 Cent to the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, where the “In da Club” rapper threw another bash. That rager reportedly stretched into the early hours of September 8.

Less than 24 hours later, the Princess of Pop was slated to perform on the VMAs stage.
Cassie Ventura drops bombshell in court about Britney Spears partying with Diddy
Now, that night out in Vegas is back in the headlines because of a federal trafficking trial involving Diddy.
His ex, Cassie Ventura, 38, took the stand on May 15 and casually name-dropped Britney Spears while recalling how her relationship with Diddy first began progressing from professional to romantic.
“Sean was there, and he brought Dallas Austin, Britney Spears,” she testified. “I think those were the two people that stand out to me.”

Cassie explained that the Vegas celebration was for her 21st birthday in September 2007 — the same weekend Britney had her VMA comeback meltdown.
Until then, she said Diddy — who was 38 at the time and 17 years older — was just her producer. But their dynamic changed “when he kissed her that night,” she said.
Combs has denied all charges against him, including trafficking and racketeering conspiracy. He’s facing potential life in prison if convicted.
Britney Spears breaks down her 2007 VMAs trainwreck
It was supposed to be Britney's big comeback — but September 9, 2007, still lives in pop infamy.
Wearing a sparkly black bra and underwear set, the pop sensation took the stage to perform “Gimme More” at the MTV Video Music Awards and bombed. Critics slammed her for low-energy choreography and poor lip-syncing, Page Six noted.

In her 2023 memoir, “The Woman in Me,” Spears opened up about the nightmare. “There was a problem with my costume and with my hair extensions,” she revealed. “I hadn’t slept the night before. I was dizzy.”
To make things worse, she ran into Justin Timberlake backstage. “It had been a while since I’d seen him,” she wrote of her ex, whom she famously dated from 1999 to 2002. “I couldn’t believe I was going to have to go out onstage feeling the way I felt.”
What's more? Britney was also under brutal tabloid fire for her erratic behavior, custody battle with Kevin Federline, and having literally shaved her head bald just months earlier. The VMA meltdown sort of became symbolic of her unraveling—and now it's come to light that she partied hard with Diddy the day before her performance.

Britney Spears lights up a cigarette on a flight
Just as her name resurfaced in Diddy’s trial, Britney found herself in hot water for allegedly lighting up a cigarette on a flight in a move that could violate Federal Aviation Administration rules.
On Friday, People reported that Spears had smoked onboard a flight and the crew alerted the authorities, who were waiting for her when the plane landed.
Britney addressed the incident on Instagram.
“Some planes I’ve been on you can’t smoke mostly but this one was different because the drink holders were on outside of seat !!!” she wrote. “And said I want a cigarette so bad !!!” she continued. “I do so apologize to anyone I offended but the flight attendants always make sure I’m way at the back of plane anyways 🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️ !!!”
“I thought officials greeted me as support and I was like WOW I feel special !!!” she quipped. “The flight attendant called officials because I smoked a cigarette!!!”
