Brooklyn Beckham calls Prince William ‘really good guy’ amid family's rumored rift with Meghan and Harry
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Brooklyn Beckham reportedly praised Prince William during his appearance on an episode of ‘Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen’ on Monday, November 4, amid reports of his family's alleged feud with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
The eldest child of David Beckham and Victoria Beckham came on the show to talk about his friendship with Selena Gomez but the conversation soon turned to his family’s connection with the British royal family, the Daily Mail reported.
Brooklyn Beckham says Prince William’s ‘really down to earth’
Host Andy Cohen asked Brooklyn Beckham, “Growing up, which members of the royal family did you see most often, especially since your family is friends with Harry and Meghan?”
Without mentioning the former senior royals, the 25-year-old responded, “Uhh, probably William.”
Cohen then asked, “Yeah? What's he like, is there something about him people don't get? Is he fun?” To which, Brooklyn replied, “He's just, like, the sweetest guy ever. He really is. He's really down to earth. He's a really good guy.”
Societal ranking allegedly led to Sussexes and Beckhams feud
The Beckhams were previously very close to the Sussexes and had even attended their 2018 wedding.
However, the friendship began to turn sour soon after Meghan and Harry left the UK for an independent life in the US. The former ‘Suits’ actress had alleged that Victoria was leaking stories about them to the media.
But according to royal author Tom Bower, there was another reason for the rift, reported Sky News. Bower wrote in his book ‘The House of Beckham: Money, Sex and Power’, “In Meghan’s celebrity world, ranking depended on wealth and fame.”
“As a seasoned operator, Meghan deluded herself that her status in the Royal family placed her above Victoria in the social pecking order,” Bower added.
Prince William and David Beckham came together for a cause
The Beckhams have not yet officially confirmed the feud and have continued to be close with the royal family.
Earlier in October, the former footballer met the future king at Royal Air Force Northolt to mark the end of the London Air Ambulance’s ‘Up Against Time’ campaign.
The campaign had raised $20 million (£16 million) for two new Airbus H135 helicopters.
At the time, David reportedly said, “We're here today to celebrate ... the success of the fundraiser for London's air ambulances which is something close to my heart and has been for a number of years.”
“I'm an East End boy so every time we saw them in the air it made us very proud. As soon as I was asked to be involved by Prince William it was something I was very honored (to do) in all honesty,” the 49-year-old added.
