NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Alex Cooper, host of the podcast 'Call Her Daddy' called out the campaign of 2024 Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris for reportedly spending six figures to construct a make-shift set for an interview in Washington ahead of the presidential election.

According to Whiskey Riff, both Harris and her Republican rival, President-elect Donald Trump wanted to get on popular podcasts to reach as many voters as possible ahead of November 5. Among others, Trump managed to sit down for nearly three hours with one of the most popular hosts of the genre, Joe Rogan.

While Rogan was open to having Harris on his show as well, the Vice President was not inclined to visit Austin, Texas to film in his studio, and the discussions fell apart.

Cooper on the other hand agreed to interview Harris for her podcast in Washington, in a makeshift set that was built to resemble her real one in Los Angeles, California.

However, a controversy broke out over the interview as reports revealed that the Harris campaign spent over six figures to recreate the 'Call Her Daddy' set.

Alex Cooper's take on controversial cost of make-shift set

Alex Cooper addressed the subject of reports suggesting that Kamala Harris' campaign apparently spent six figures to build the set for their interview that aired on October 6, at The New York Times' DealBook Summit on Wednesday, December 4.

When asked about her take on the controversy, Cooper said that she was aware of the discussion and "it's hilarious. My studio – that is gorgeous, in Los Angeles, doesn’t even cost six figures. So I don’t know how cardboard walls could cost six figures.”

She further noted that the location of the set in Washington was not in a hotel but rather in a random house.

Cooper was also asked if she felt that the set-up could have cost the substantive sum anyway, to which she replied, "Absolutely not. With love to them, it was gorgeous… but it wasn’t that nice. It wasn’t gorgeous marble. No, that was not six figures.”

Internet trolls Kamala Harris' campaign following Alex Cooper's comment

Netizens called out the Harris campaign over the alleged inflated spending figure in light of Alex Cooper's revelation on the social media platform X. The following tweets demonstrate their takes.

"Turns out the Kamala campaign was just one big money laundering operation," claimed a user.

"And people wonder how Kamala’s campaign blew through $1billion," mocked another.

"Somebody must’ve gotten very rich from Kamala’s campaign," quipped a user.

"You wonder why our country has been headed for bankruptcy," jibed someone else.

"Democrats have no concept of costs," stated one user.

"Money laundering 101?" inquired yet another.
