NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Carrie Underwood’s kids might not fully grasp the ins and outs of their mom’s career, but that doesn’t stop them from being her biggest supporters.

The 41-year-old country star, known for hits like 'Before He Cheats,' shares two sons, Isaiah (9) and Jacob (5), with her husband, Mike Fisher.

Carrie Underwood shares son Isaiah's reaction to her as an 'American Idol' judge

During a recent interview with E! News, Underwood shared a heartwarming story about her son Isaiah's reaction to her return to 'American Idol' as a judge for the show's upcoming 23rd season.

Underwood, who originally was the winner of the competition back in season 4, revealed the sweet and slightly amusing way her son misunderstood her new role.

“My son thinks I’m singing somewhere, so he’s like, ‘God please give her all the right words and help her sing great,’” Underwood recalled.

But it seems Isaiah needed a little clarification from his dad. “Mike was like, ‘She’s not singing,’” she added with a laugh.

Despite the confusion, Underwood doesn’t mind her kids’ limited understanding of her high-profile job.

“They don’t really know what I do,” she admitted. “They do, but they don’t, which I kind of love. I’m mom to them."

Although her kids weren’t around for her American Idol victory, they’re looking forward to watching their mom on TV in 2025, when the beloved singing competition returns on ABC.

“They love seeing me on TV,” Underwood shared with Yahoo Entertainment.

“But even with younger kids who obviously did not see me on 'American Idol' or early in my career, to some kiddos, Saturday Night Football is what they know me from. So I’ll take it. That’s really amazing.”

However, during an October 2022 appearance on TODAY, Carrie Underwood shared that her son Isaiah was starting to realize his mom's fame.

“He’ll go to school and someone will be like, ‘I saw your mom on TV last night,’” she explained to Sheinelle Jones, noting that Isaiah was becoming "more aware that his mom does something that’s not normal.”

Carrie Underwood calls youngest son 'little miracle'

Underwood and Mike Fisher, who first met backstage at her concert in 2008, tied the knot in 2010 and had two children together, Isaiah and Jacob. They welcomed Isaiah on February 27, 2015, and their second son, Jacob, on January 21, 2019.

Balancing motherhood and her career, Underwood also makes time for precious moments with her boys.

Back in March 2023, Underwood touched fans by posting heartwarming photos of handwritten birthday cards from her sons in celebration of her 40th birthday on her Instagram stories.

A few months later in June, she posted on Instagram about a special day out with her youngest, Jacob.

The pair enjoyed a fun-filled day at Six Flags Magic Mountain, with Jacob decked out in neon orange basketball shorts, a blue T-shirt, high socks, and white sneakers, as he wandered around the amusement park and reached for rubber ducks.

“Took the little man to @sixflagsmagicmountain today for some Mom/Jake time! We rode rides, played games, got soaked, ate sooooo much ice cream and candy, bought random souvenirs and had the best day!” Underwood captioned the post.

Unlike Underwood who keeps her children away from her social media, Fisher posts about his sweet moments with his sons - be it Father's Day or a regular one!

Reflecting on the fleeting nature of childhood, she added during the E News interview, “This season of life flies by way too fast. I’m glad we got the chance to slow it down and just enjoy each other for the day!”

Underwood, who had previously shared her emotional journey of enduring multiple miscarriages while trying for another child, reportedly referred to baby Jacob as her "little miracle."
