LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cassie Ventura is quietly working toward a comeback, and this time it’s all on her own terms.

It's no secret that her career took a backseat during her decade-long on-again, off-again relationship with Sean "Diddy" Combs, but now that he's behind bars she's feeling more freedom than ever.

A source told Daily Mail, "Cassie is considering making a comeback to music now that Diddy is behind bars and some of the executives who were his lackeys are resigning."

They added, "She couldn't have imagined her career would have been stalled in the way it was when her first album came out, but she has so many unreleased records that she wants to release if the timing and business is right. Her collaborators have been informed of this, so the royalty splits have been agreed."

Ventura has been taking a deep dive into her old projects while also working on fresh material. Word is that she made some tweaks to a track called 'Into It', which she originally registered with Universal Music way back in 2010. She even registered a new song, 'Midnight Hour', with the record label this August.

Her career has been a rollercoaster since the start. She signed with Bad Boy Records in 2006 and dropped her debut single 'Me & U' right around the time she and Diddy started dating. But after that, her releases drastically slowed down.

She put out a few singles between 2008 and 2009, including 'Official Girl' with Lil Wayne and 'Must Be Love' with Diddy. She basically disappeared for a while until her mixtape 'RockaByeBaby' came out in 2013.

She parted ways with Bad Boy Records in 2019 after her breakup with Diddy.

The dark side of Cassie Ventura's relationship with Sean 'Diddy' Combs

Cassie Ventura filed a bombshell lawsuit against Sean "Diddy" Combs in November 2023, pulling back the curtain on the years of alleged abuse she endured during their relationship.

In the filing, she painted a chilling picture of the control and violence she faced. Ventura described their time together as a "cycle of abuse, violence, and sex trafficking," even alleging that Diddy raped her in 2018 after she tried to leave him.

She claimed the music mogul introduced her "to a lifestyle of excessive alcohol and substance abuse and required her to procure illicit prescriptions to satisfy his own addictions."

Ventura further accused Diddy of forcing her to "engage in sex acts with male sex workers" and filming the encounters.

"After years in silence and darkness, I am finally ready to tell my story, and to speak up on behalf of myself and for the benefit of other women who face violence and abuse in their relationships," said Ventura in a statement.

She added, "With the expiration of New York's Adult Survivors Act fast approaching, it became clear that this was an opportunity to speak up about the trauma I have experienced and that I will be recovering from for the rest of my life."

However, Ventura and Diddy reached a settlement just one day after she filed the suit. Though the terms weren’t disclosed, the 'Me & U' singer said she felt like she was finally in control of her own story.

"I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans, and lawyers for their unwavering support," shared Ventura at the time.

Cassie Ventura hopeful about justice

Her lawyer, Douglas Wigdor, praised her courage for speaking out saying, "I am very proud of Ms Ventura for having the strength to go public with her lawsuit. She ought to be commended for doing so."

For his part, Diddy maintained his innocence and insisted that the settlement wasn't an admission of guilt. He even wished Ventura well in his statement: "We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love."

After everything she had been through, Ventura just wanted some kind of justice. That hope got a boost earlier this year when CNN published a surveillance footage from 2016, which appeared to show Diddy hitting, stomping, and dragging her down a hotel hallway.

Ventura's November 2023 lawsuit seemed to corroborate the altercation. Days after the footage was published, the rapper issued an apology, calling his behavior "inexcusable."

Following a federal investigation, Diddy was arrested on September 16 and charged with sex trafficking and racketeering. He's been denied bail three times and is currently imprisoned at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. His trial date has been set for May 5, 2025.

A source close to Ventura told People that she’s been "hopeful that justice would come," especially after Diddy was "protected" by "so many people" in the industry over the years.
