NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ trial on May 5, 2025, is to coincide with one of the iconic events of Hollywood that Diddy had frequently attended in the past.

In a macabre twist of fate, Diddy’s much-anticipated trial is to begin on the first Monday of May, which coincides with the Met Gala taking place at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

According to Page Six, Diddy’s trial will be falling on the same day when his fellow Hollywood peers will be getting ready to walk the famed steps of the Met Museum for the prestigious annual gala.

The next year’s theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black style” with Vogue reporting the Costume Institute show will "take the Black dandy as its subject". Per Page Six, the 2025 annual gala will "examine the importance of clothing and style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora.”

While Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky and Pharrell Williams will be taking up the role of co-chairs, NBA star LeBron James has been selected as the honorary chair.

Previously, Diddy has attended the Met Gala quite a few times including in 2017, 2018 and 2023. While he attended the star-studded event with his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura in 2017 and 2018, Diddy attended the 2023 version with Yung Miami.

In 2024, the Bad Boy Records founder was reportedly removed from the guest list after his two properties in Miami and Los Angeles were raided by Homeland Security in connection to racketeering conspiracy.

The news of his trial came after Diddy’s plea for bail was rejected for the third time, with the judge ordering the ‘Last Night’ rapper to remain in police custody until May 5 at the detention center in Brooklyn.

When he was removed from the guest list for 2024’s Met Gala, a source spoke to an outlet as per The US Mirror, "Now he finds himself grappling not only with the preservation of his reputation but also with the loss of his standing within an industry that has unequivocally distanced itself from him.”

Diddy’s lawyers say ‘truth will prevail’

After multiple charges were filed against Diddy by six alleged victims, Diddy’s lawyers claimed in court that the truth would ultimately prevail in the court.

They said, "The press conference and 1-800 number that preceded today's barrage of filings were clear attempts to garner publicity.”

"Mr Combs and his legal team have full confidence in the facts, their legal defenses, and the integrity of the judicial process,” added the lawyers.

They further added, "In court, the truth will prevail,” while vouching for Diddy’s innocence, per Bang Showbiz.
