Charlamagne tha God blasts Trump's plans for military parade amid economic slump: 'Nothing to celebrate'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Charlamagne tha God called out President Donald Trump over his plans to host a military parade amid slush in the economy.
The radio host made the proposal on the Tuesday, 8 April episode of 'The Breakfast Club', saying the country is in no shape to celebrate.
Charlamagne tha God slams Donald Trump over plans to host military parade
Donald Trump is reportedly planning a military parade for June 14, which would mark both his 79th birthday and the 250th anniversary of the US Army, according to Daily Beast, citing Washington City Paper.
“Nothing to celebrate right now, my guy,” said Charlamagne tha God.
The host criticized the idea of the event, pointing out that it comes at a time when “all these federal jobs [are] lost, the economy is in the toilet, [and] people’s 401(k)’s [are] being slashed.”
Charlamagne tha God questions Donald Trump over 'wasteful spending’
Donald Trump previously, per the outlet, tried to organize a military parade during his first term after attending the Bastille Day celebration in France in 2017.
“We’re going to have to try to top it,” he told French President Emmanuel Macron at the time.

That parade was never held after costs were projected at around $92 million. Trump had wanted to include fighter jets, tanks, and historic military planes.
NBC News reported that a senior administration official said there was little interest from within the White House. “There is only one person who wants this parade,” said the official, referring to Trump.
The hosts of 'The Breakfast Club' revisited that failed effort, with Charlamagne tha God asking if it didn’t sound like “wasteful spending”.
He continued, “Where’s DOGE at when you need them? DOGE can’t intervene in a situation like this? That seems like wasteful spending to me.”

He went on to suggest, “Don’t involve our military with that foolishness,” recommending instead a “nice little light party at Mar-a-Lago for family and close friends.”
Reports of the planned parade follow Donald Trump’s recent announcement on tariffs, a related stock market slump, and more federal budget cuts linked to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).
A source told Washington City Paper that the parade would run from the Pentagon in Arlington to the White House.
Local officials reportedly had no prior knowledge of the event until being notified just nine weeks before the expected date.
Arlington County Board Chair Takis Karantonis said they were only given a “heads up” on Friday, adding that they received very little information.
Morgyn Wood, Front Page News reporter on 'The Breakfast Club', joked during the show, “Let’s take it up to the Supreme Court maybe.”
However, the White House told Politico via email on Monday that “no military parade has been scheduled.”
