PROVO, UTAH: Tyler Robinson, accused of killing the conservative activist Charlie Kirk, apparently spoke about the shooting and Kirk's widow in an off-mic conversation with his lawyer during his first in-person court appearance on Thursday, December 11.

Robinson, who remained calm and composed during the proceedings, is facing numerous charges, including aggravated murder, over the September shooting at Utah Valley University.

Lip reader reveals courtroom discussion details

During his first in-person court appearance in Provo, Utah, 22-year-old Tyler Robinson appeared to share a laugh with his lawyer before the hearing officially began.

In an exchange analyzed by Lip Reader Limited, Robinson allegedly revealed that the shooting constantly occupies his thoughts.

"I think about the shooting daily," Robinson appears to have told his lawyer, continuing, "Every morning … all the time."

The exchange also seemed to reference Kirk's wife, Erika Kirk, with the lip reader catching Robinson saying, "So, he had a wife…."

Tyler Robinson apparently confessed to psychological distress

Furthermore, the lip reader said that Tyler Robinson also spoke about his present mental state to the lawyer as a prisoner.

He mentioned sleep problems and reliance on smoking, saying he's been "smoking a lot … Not sleeping at night … it’s driving me mental."

The accused added a lament about his condition, according to the analysis, "Unfortunately, it’s doing my head in. I’m not good for anything."

Despite these reported admissions of distress, Robinson was primarily seen composed-looking and calm as he stood before Judge Tony Graf in court.

Judge to rule on Tyler Robinson case on December 29

It may be noted that Tyler Robinson is facing charges of fatally shooting 31-year-old Charlie Kirk on September 10 after a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University.

Thursday’s hearing was expected to address key procedural matters, namely, whether to allow access to the courtroom by media, a move the defense objected to and whether to unseal portions of an October phone hearing transcript, related to what Robinson would wear in court.

Ultimately, Judge Graf deferred judgment on both matters, sending the hearing behind closed doors for more than two hours before setting a final ruling for December 29.

For now, Robinson remains charged with one count each of aggravated murder, felony discharge of a firearm causing serious bodily injury, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering, along with two counts of witness tampering and commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child.
