Cher’s daughter-in-law objects to singer’s conservatorship bid over Elijah Blue Allman
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Cher's daughter-in-law Marieangela King has taken legal action to object to the singer's bid to become her son Elijah Blue Allman's conservator.
As per reports, King filed a petition in court on August 6, saying that if her husband of over a decade needs a conservator to oversee his financial affairs, it should be her and not anyone else. The 50-year-old is currently being admitted to a psychiatric facility.

The document submitted by the 39-year-old singer read, “Elijah needs a robust, long-term treatment plan to deal with these issues, and appointment of a conservator, selected by his mother, from whom he has been estranged for years, wherein her removing his autonomy against his wishes, would demoralize him, thereby jeopardizing his recovery.”
Though King and Allman, married since 2013, share a troubled relationship, the former claimed to be “in support of my spouse, as Elijah’s wife”. King had twice filed for divorce from Allman but did not go ahead with it.

Now in her filing, she stated, “I dismissed the divorce petition, as well as a court order for approximately $70,000 in unpaid spousal support, so that I could stand in support of my spouse, as Elijah’s wife, ensure his well-being, and be there for him, in his care plan.”
King has also further added in her petition that her mother-in-law's petition for conservatorship is “against Elijah’s expressed wishes” and that the singer “refused to work, or cooperate, with me” in deciding a long-term treatment plan for Allman.
Marieangela King says Elijah Blue Allman opposed Cher's conservatorship filing
Concluding her argument, King said she was concerned that the appointment of a conservator selected by Cher could affect her husband's recovery.
“Elijah vehemently opposed the appointment of Petitioner as his conservator. I am extremely concerned that the appointment of a conservator hand selected by Petitioner is equally not in Elijah’s best interests and will be viewed by Elijah as further punishment and an effort to interfere with his autonomy, rather than an attempt to help him,” she said.
King also asserted that “in Elijah’s fragile mental state, this would jeopardize his chances of a hopeful recovery.”

This came two months after King requested the dismissal of her divorce filing, which was approved on June 8.
But a year earlier, after demanding dissolution of marriage, she had told PEOPLE, “We had a beautiful 13-year journey, filled with memories I'll always cherish. I know we'll remain friends, and Elijah will always hold a special place in my heart.”
“As we turn the page to this next chapter, we kindly ask for privacy and truly appreciate your understanding,” King had added.
