Cher’s son Elijah Blue Allman to enter residential treatment amid conservatorship battle
MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Elijah Blue Allman, son of Cher, is reportedly preparing to enter a residential treatment program after a series of recent arrests. This development comes amid an ongoing legal dispute involving a potential conservatorship linked to his famous mother, according to TMZ.
Court filings cited by the outlet show that Elijah has hired new attorneys who are actively contesting his estranged wife, Marieangela King’s, efforts.
She is seeking a share of his inheritance from his late father, Gregg Allman, and is also requesting temporary financial support while their divorce proceedings continue.
Elijah Blue Allman legal battle and mental health crisis
According to court records, Elijah Blue Allman is currently being held in a psychiatric hospital in New Hampshire. He is awaiting a hearing to determine whether he is mentally fit to face charges, which include burglary, criminal mischief, and breaking bail conditions.
His lawyers say that being held there is making it harder for him to take part in a separate family case in California.
At the same time, Elijah is pushing back against Cher’s attempt to place him under a conservatorship. His lawyer also explained that Elijah can only be released if he is accepted into a residential treatment program. The program needs to address his mental health and substance use issues.
In another court filing, his brother Devon Allman shared an emotional statement. He said he is worried about Elijah’s condition and believes he may not be able to take care of himself or handle his finances.
"It is my opinion that (Elijah) is currently a danger to himself and unable to manage his life, and any funds that would become available to him."
He added, "My recent visit to check in on him brought me unfortunate and profound sadness that took weeks of my life to process. His condition, both physical and mental, was appalling and delusional."
"On his behalf, I had to negotiate with a dealer for a five-figure sum of debts, and that was very difficult to navigate. I felt compelled to help for his safety, though. It was clear from the debt he accrued that he owed more to this dealer than he had available to him. I strongly urge that Elijah be kept away from money until he has demonstrated a commitment to invest in his long-term physical and mental health," Allman talked about his brother's narcotics deal.
Cher flags son’s financial and substance issues
Previously, TMZ reported on court documents filed in the Los Angeles County Superior Court, where Cher said that Elijah Blue Allman’s condition has worsened since her last conservatorship request in 2023.
She expressed concern that he is no longer able to properly manage his own life.
The documents also claim that Elijah has difficulty handling money. According to Cher, he tends to spend whatever he receives very quickly, mainly on substances, expensive hotel stays, and luxury transportation.
She also said that his substance use has led to serious financial problems. In one instance, she claimed he owed $18,000 to a dealer and had to rely on a friend for help to clear the debt and avoid harm.
