LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Acting legend Christopher Walken has shared that he avoids modern technology, including the internet, mobile phones, and even email.

The Oscar-winning actor also admitted that his access to the Emmy-winning show 'Severance', in which he stars, comes via DVDs sent to him.

Known for his unique approach to life and work, Christopher Walken's aversion to current technology aligns with the "no phones" policy enforced on the set of 'Severance.'

In an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Walken candidly discussed his technological abstinence.

“I don’t have technology,” he said. “I only have a satellite dish on my house. So I’ve seen 'Severance' on DVDs that they’re good enough to send me,” Walken explained.

The actor further added, “I don’t have a cell phone. I’ve never emailed or, what do you call it, Twittered.”

Walken previously echoed similar sentiments during an appearance on 'SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live.'

When asked if he had watched all the episodes of 'Severance', he responded, “Not all of them. I can’t. I don’t have the equipment. So, they're good enough to send me DVDs.”

Cohen then asked Walken if he subscribed to Apple TV+, to which Walken replied, “I don’t have anything.” Laughing, Cohen responded, “Right. You don’t. Okay. I love you for that," People reported.

How does Christopher Walken's approach align with Ben Stiller's 'no phones' on-set rule?

Christopher Walken’s approach to avoiding technology fits well with show director Ben Stiller’s strict "no phones" rule on the set of 'Severance.'

Stiller, the show's co-executive producer and director, discussed the policy during an appearance on Mike Birbiglia’s 'Working It Out' podcast.

"Crew have to use phones sometimes to communicate, but, for me, I like no phones anywhere near the eyeshot of the actors,” Stiller said, reported Variety.

He shared that the presence of phones during intense scenes could disrupt the creative process.

“My least favorite thing is to see a dolly grip guy hunched down while an actor is acting their brains out, and he’s scrolling or whatever. It drives me crazy,” Stiller said.

Christopher Walken calls 'Severance' a 'very special job'

Despite his decades-long career, which includes roles in 'The Deer Hunter', 'Pulp Fiction', and 'Catch Me If You Can', Christopher Walken considers his work on 'Severance' unique.

Speaking about the show, Walken said, “A very special job. It was mysterious, but funny and scary, which I’ve always felt was a good combination.”

Walken's efforts on the show earned him an Emmy nomination in 2022. The show itself has won two Emmys after the show was nominated for 14 categories in 2022.
