LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Scarlett Johansson showed off her sense of humor when her husband, Colin Jost, was put on the spot during 'Saturday Night Live.'

In the Christmas episode, Jost’s co-host, Michael Che, made him deliver a joke that poked fun at Johansson, a moment made even more memorable by her backstage reaction.

Appearing on 'The Tonight Show' with Jimmy Fallon on Monday, January 20, Jost shared the details about his wife's reaction.

“Scarlett was genuinely so shocked,” he recalled, laughing.

Though Jost did not see the jokes beforehand, the 'SNL' team gave Johansson a heads-up about the content.

“They said, ‘Hey, would you be okay if Michael made a kind of vagina joke?’ and she was like, ‘Sure, whatever.’”

The infamous roast beef joke

The moment escalated when a photo of a Costco roast beef sandwich was displayed during the joke.

“Scarlett was backstage like, ‘Oh my god, that’s what it is!’” Jost recounted, emphasizing his genuine reaction.

Descirbing it a “legitimate live moment," Fallon said, “You weren’t acting at all.”

“I was not. I can’t act that well,” Jost quipped.

Jost noted that he “didn’t know where it was going, and then the graphic came up for Arby’s.”

This lighthearted exchange became a standout in the episode, part of Jost and Che’s tradition of swapping jokes written for each other.

During another joke swap in July 2024, Che made Jost say, “ChatGPT has released a new voice assistant feature inspired by Scarlett Johansson’s AI character in Her."

“Which I’ve never bothered to watch, because without that body what’s the point of listening?” he added.

Scarlett Johansson’s thoughts on her husband Colin Jost

Despite the teasing, Scarlet Johansson has expressed admiration for her husband Colin Jost.

During a November 2024 interview on 'Live with Kelly and Mark', she said, “He’s kind, hilarious, thoughtful, and loving."

"He’s also a great dad. I feel very lucky. But he’s got his naughty side, and that keeps things interesting,” she shared at the time.

Johansson and Jost who tied the knot in 2020, share a three-year-old son, Cosmo, while Johansson has a daughter, Rose, from her previous marriage.

Reflecting on the viral moment, Jost joked, “I’m in trouble with a lot of people… but Scarlett’s still laughing.”
