NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Former President Donald Trump directed his anger toward the New York judge overseeing his hush money trial after hearing fixer-turned-foe Michael Cohen testify in court, reported The Hill.

Speaking to reporters after exiting the Manhattan courtroom on Monday, May 13, the Republican presumptive nominee was asked about why some elected officials accompanied him to the court.

"They think it's a terrible thing that is happening to democracy in this country," Trump said about Sen JD Vance, Sen Tommy Tuberville, and Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird, who joined him on day 16 of the hush money trial.

"We have a lot of them, they want to come. I say, just stay back and pass lots of laws to stop things like this," the 45th president added.

Trump accuses Judge Juan Merchan of keeping him from campaigning

While addressing the media, Trump read from a document for around five minutes with remarks from GOP lawmakers, legal analysts, and television commentators who voiced doubts about the case or backed the ex-president.

The commentaries were from Vance, a potential contender in Trump's running mate list, Andy McCarthy, a contributor to Fox News, Fox News host Mark Levin, and Marc Thiessen, a columnist for The Washington Post.

Trump then went on to criticize Judge Juan Merchan, who is overseeing the trial.

"It's really a very sad day for the country. It's sad for New York," he said. "We have a corrupt judge, and we have a judge who's highly conflicted, and he's keeping me from campaigning. He's an appointed New York judge. He's appointed."

The fourth week of the criminal trial started off to a dramatic start with star witness Cohen's testimony, where he revealed his former client's intimate involvement in paying hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels.

Trump faces 34 counts for falsifying business records to cover up the hush money payment to Daniels to silence her about their alleged sex scandal. Cohen made the $ 130,000 payment on behalf of the ex-president before the 2016 election, which Trump later repaid under the pretext of legal expense.

Cohen is expected to testify against the former president. Trump may be forced to sell off his properties after Justice Arthur Engoron canceled his business certificates and ruled that he committed fraud for years while building his real estate empire after being sued by Attorney General Letitia James, seeking $250 million in damages. However, the real estate mogul refrained from commenting on the witnesses, including his ex-fixer, because of the gag order against him.

Internet mocks Trump for 'whining'

The former president faced brutal mockery for complaining about Judge Merchan after day 16 of the criminal trial.

One user joked, "Cry louder." Another remarked, "Just more gaslighting! Wasn’t he campaigning this past weekend? Pretty sure there was a thing in NJ. lol."

"The unhinged lunatic believes that yelling increases the validity of his argument - It doesn’t," a third user added.

An individual quipped, "Someone is crying." Another user wrote, "Only Trump could go into court bragging about having 100,000 people at a rally on the weekend, and then come out of the court, whining about the 'corrupt' judge, not allowing him to campaign."

"This is a definite sign that Michael Cohen's testimony was a home rum," someone else mockingly stated. Another person said, "Actually that’s loudly whining."

One remark read, "This is the portrait of a man whose time has long passed, fighting to get to the limelights, but unable to understand people, the world, causes, security, love, compassion, and above all freedom. It's like a very old music band, struggling to get shows, but unable to play well."
