Daddy Yankee's daughter Jesaaelys confirms estrangement from him as he undergoes 'difficult' divorce
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Rapper Daddy Yankee’s daughter Jesaaelys has confirmed her estrangement from her father after his divorce from ex Mireddys Gonzalez.
In January 2025, Daddy Yankee admitted that the divorce caused a rift between him and his daughter Jesaaelys, which she confirmed recently through her weekly blog assuring that the relationship with her father “is more than lacerated”, according to Hola.
Jesaaelys confirms estrangement from her father
The rapper’s daughter revealed how she feels about the situation and indicated that it has been a difficult situation due to the media coverage of her parents’ divorce as all the details of their split is available in the public domain.
She said, per the outlet, “This process of my parents getting divorced has been very difficult. Usually when people get divorced it is private, we sign, we leave and that is how one of the parties wanted it.”
She further explained that it was her mother who wanted the divorce to be private.
Jesaaelys mentioned, “My mom wanted everything to be like this: no one has to find out, we are going to do this discreetly. You do your thing, I do mine, you on your side, I on mine.”
According to Daddy Yankee’s daughter, the ‘Despacito’ rapper was the one who made everything public and things escalated as they became victims of threats.
"The other party (Daddy Yankee), evidently did the opposite, that is why we are in this position today where we are publicly exposed and me having to do this," she added.
She described the whole situation as a “media circus”, and added that the public sends “death threats, insults, countless things."
She further added that the news of the divorce was a shock to her as she and her mother found out about he father’s plans through social media, like his followers.
Moreover, she mentioned that he lacked communication which led to increased tensions.
She said, “And in the same way that you find out when you scroll down a story, it was the same way that we found out, there was no communication. It took us all by surprise.”
Drama surrounding Daddy Yankee-Mireddys Gonzalez’s divorce
Daddy Yankee and his longtime wife Mireddys Gonzalez announced in December 2024 that they were getting divorced. The couple would have celebrated their 30th anniversary in 2025, according to Billboard.
He wrote in a statement posted on Instagram, “With a heart full of respect and honesty, I want to share some important news about my personal life. After more than two decades of marriage and after many months of trying to save my marriage, which my wife and I share, today my lawyers respond to the divorce petition received by Mireddys.”
He added, “It is time to accept and continue. Protect my stability, my children, and everything built over so many years. I deeply thank those who have accompanied us during this journey and I ask that you respect our privacy in this process. I know that this news may surprise many.”
Weeks after the announcement, the singer filed many motions against his estranged wife and cited she withdrew a total of $100 million from company accounts without his authorization, according to E News.
He alleged that Gonzalez and her sister Ayeicha Gonzalez Castellano took $80 million from the El Cartel Records account.
He then filed a second motion later the same day stating that an additional $20 million had been taken from the Los Cangris music account, per the documents.
