LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Daniel Baldwin has accused Jimmy Kimmel of fueling hatred towards President Donald Trump while suggesting that it led to the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner at the Washington Hilton Hotel.
Cole Allen allegedly opened fire at the April 25 event, which was attended by many big names, including Trump. As per the suspect’s alleged manifesto, the POTUS, as well as his senior officials, were the target, except the FBI director Kash Patel.
Daniel Baldwin says people with influence should speak with caution
Now, during the May 3 episode of ‘The Daniel Baldwin Show’, the 65-year-old actor has expressed his sadness over the incident while calling out the anti-Trump stance in Hollywood.
He recalled, “I remember being on movie sets with big-name people, Oscar winners, high-paid talent. And they would just be on some politician or person, like, 'Yeah, someone should get him.’”
“‘Someone should shoot him,’ once someone said in front of me. And I thought, ‘Wow, your voice carries weight. You know, your words have followers and people,’” Baldwin shared.

The second-oldest of the four Baldwin brothers then moved on to talk about Kimmel’s late-night commentary, targeting Trump.
He said, “Does Jimmy Kimmel not realize that when you keep bombarding everyone in every one of your monologues and planting this kind of hatred in the American public or the people that follow you, someone might act on that?”
“Now, does that exonerate Kimmel of any wrongdoing? Yeah, he didn’t do it, but did he play a role in it? Does he care that he played a role? Is that the point? Does he do it because he wants that to happen? I don’t know the answer to those questions, but I’m sad, man,” Baldwin added.
Baldwin claims, 'We never hated anyone'
During his show, the director also compared Johnny Carson’s response to the 1981 assassination attempt against President Ronald Reagan with Kimmel’s.

At the time, the Oscars were postponed for 24 hours after John Hinckley Jr tried to kill Reagan at the same Washington Hilton Hotel.
“The Academy, ABC television and all of us connected with the show felt because of the uncertain outcome as of this time yesterday, it would have been inappropriate to stage a celebration,” the comedian had said.
Referring to it, Baldwin stated, “We never hated anyone. We never wanted someone to die or laughed about them dying. It’s really disturbing to me,” as he noted, “I used to be proud to say I was an actor. You walk into a room now and say, yeah, I’m an actor. I’m a movie actor and television actor…”
“It’s not something I’m as proud to say or is it as big a deal because of the hatred that comes out from that side,” he asserted.
