Daveigh Chase's final resting place revealed in death certificate after mother receives her ashes
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: More details have emerged following the untimely death of Daveigh Chase.
'The Ring' star died in Los Angeles on June 16 due to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). She was 35.
Daveigh Chase's ashes returned to mother Cathy
New reports, citing her death certificate from Los Angeles County, claim that Chase was cremated on July 10 and that her final resting place is her mother Cathy's residence, where her ashes were taken.
Chase's death was announced by her alleged boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, who also launched a GoFundMe campaign in her name.
Hernandez wrote on the fundraiser, “Daveigh Chase, my girlfriend, has always been a light in my life. Many people know her as a talented childhood actor from ‘Lilo & Stitch,’ ‘Spirited Away,’ and ‘Donnie Darko.’ But behind the scenes, she’s faced more than her share of hardship.”
“After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown LA. When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope,” he added.
Former manager questions Daveigh Chase's alleged boyfriend
However, he was soon criticized by the child star's former manager, John Ryan, who reportedly said, “Apparently, a man claiming to be her ‘boyfriend’ that none of us friends or her family has heard of has set up a GoFundMe on ‘her and her families behalf’ that he set her up as the organizer.”
“I can confirm Daveigh has a trust account set up at SAG to cover all costs,” Ryan stated.
Daveigh Chase leaves $400K unclaimed estate
The latest update comes after reports claimed that Chase left behind an estate worth $400,000. Cathy has now reportedly filed a petition in court, requesting to be appointed the administrator of the estate.
The grieving mother had earlier said that her daughter's addiction issues began after she was prescribed medication following a motorcycle accident in 2016.
Daveigh Chase's mother defended her parenting
Cathy also claimed that “it upsets me because people are saying I must’ve been a bad mother, but I never gave up on her. As a mother, you don’t give up on your child. I was hoping she would still come home.”
“I tried desperately to try to get [Daveigh] help, but you can’t legally force someone who doesn’t want that help. She was completely gone, like, out of her mind. The substances took hold of her,” she asserted.
