WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump may be plotting a high-stakes shakeup in his 2024 presidential campaign, with whispers suggesting that Robert F Kennedy Jr could replace Senator JD Vance as his running mate.

The speculation, sparked by Democratic strategist Paul Begala on CNN, comes after Kennedy abandoned his independent presidential bid to support Trump.

Trump's social media post ignites speculation of a Kennedy-Vance VP swap

Donald Trump recently fueled these rumors by sharing a social media post featuring a photo of himself and Robert F Kennedy Jr, proclaiming them “the strongest anti-establishment ticket in American history.”

The use of the word “ticket” has caught the attention of political analysts, with Begala warning Vance to “watch his back.”

"So Paul, last time you were here with James [Carville] and you predicted that Trump could [dump] J.D. Vance as his running mate," questioned host Erin Burnett.

"Two days ago, Trump actually shared a post on social media and the post had a photo of him with Kennedy, and it was the words were, 'We're the strongest anti-establishment ticket in American history.' And you are honing in on the word 'ticket' and not just saying that he could replace Vance, but to — he could replace him with Kennedy."

Democratic strategist warns Vance of potential replacement

"Watch your back, JD," said political strategist Begala.

"Yeah, I watched that whole thing and look, Bobby Kennedy had a parasitic brain-eating worm in his head and the worm died of starvation, okay," he continued.

"So I just think that we ought to give him like a lot of leeway because I think he's a bit eccentric."

"I don't think he adds much to Trump, honestly," Begala observed, pointing out that both Kennedy and Trump already draw in the same base of anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists.

"But Bobby Kennedy started this race about 20 percent. He's about 2 now. So on current trajectory, by Election Day, he'll be about negative six. He's a diminishing asset, but I think Trump really likes him and JD Vance has really not — I think he's on milk cartons now. We just don't see him."

Netizens erupt with reactions to potential Kennedy-Vance swap in Trump’s campaign

As speculation grows over the possibility of Robert F Kennedy Jr replacing JD Vance as Donald Trump’s running mate, internet users are responding with a mix of humor and skepticism.

"Now THAT would be the ultimate of October surprises!" a social media user tweeted.

"Bad to worse!" a second said.

"because Trump does not look quite so old and ugly standing next to RFKjr as he does next to Vance," a third added.

"Replacing a bad ill equipped VP candidate with another isn't going to help #trump" tweeted another.

"Trump could hang J.D. Vance, and it wouldn't be a crime," read a comment.
