Dems slammed after insider admits to praying for economic crash as party's popularity tanks: 'Messed up'

WASHINGTON, DC: Some Democrat insiders are allegedly so panicked about the party’s plummeting prospects that they’re secretly hoping for an economic crash.

A new report from The Hill on Monday, July 14, quoted several Democrat strategists who painted a grim picture of the party’s current standing — and the ideas being floated behind closed doors are rather concerning. One anonymous strategist spilled that the only Hail Mary left might be a financial disaster.

“This is a nightmare scenario for the Dems right now,” the unnamed insider told The Hill. “We better pray long and hard that the country is going to be in a f****** depression, because I don’t know how else we find ourselves out of this mess.”

Polls are brutal and there’s no clear leader

The Hill laid out just how bad things have gotten for the Democrats in the aftermath of President Donald Trump’s return to the White House.

“Not only do polls show the Democrats’ approval ratings at historic lows, but they’re still scrambling to identify a national leader almost half a year after Trump’s return to the White House — dynamics that are raising alarm bells in certain corners of the party,” the outlet reported.

One recent poll by the Democratic super PAC Unite the Country, conducted between May and June, confirmed that the base is slipping. Voters described the party using words like “out of touch,” “weak,” and “woke.”

That perception is hitting the party hard.

“It’s hard to message when you’re in the wilderness, which is what we are right now,” said Rodell Mollineau, a top strategist and senior adviser to Unite the Country. “When voters don’t think that you care about their issues, and they don’t think that you’re going to fight for them, that becomes a problem.”

Is Donald Trump’s agenda a lifeline?

Veteran strategist Brad Bannon told The Hill that not much has improved since Inauguration Day.

“Sadly, Democrats are still stuck in the same mud that they were in six months ago. We are still as unpopular as we were when Trump was inaugurated in January," he said.

But Bannon isn’t ready to wave the white flag just yet. He sees a window of opportunity opening.

“Because of MAGA missteps, Democrats now finally have tools to use to build a new foundation,” he explained. “The secret sauce for the opposition is to use the Medicaid cuts, immigration deportations, and high tariff taxes to blister Trump for his failure to keep his campaign promise to bring down high prices on the first day of the second administration.”

Attacking the GOP on pocketbook issues and broken promises might work, but that assumes the Democrats can get their message together — something they’ve seriously struggled with lately.

Mark Cuban and Rahm Emanuel go off on current state of Democratic Party

Democrat megadonor Mark Cuban didn’t mince words on the 'Pod Save America' podcast.

“It’s just ‘Trump sucks.’ That’s the underlying thought of everything the Democrats do. ‘Trump sucks.’ Trump says the sky is blue. ‘Trump sucks.’ That’s not the way to win! It’s just not!” Cuban ranted.

“Because it’s not about Trump — it’s about the people of the United States of America — and what’s good for them! And how do you get them to a place where they’re in a better position, and it’s less stressful for them," the billionaire added.

Of course, he’s not the only one sounding the alarm. Former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel also didn't hold back in a recent CNN interview with Dana Bash.

“Just to give you a sense of how bad we are – the Democratic Party is less popular than Elon Musk right now. That should be like a wake-up call – how bad," he noted.

Democrats face backlash on social media as a party insider admits to praying for economic crash

That said, the suggestion that some Democrats would actually root for an economic crash just to regain some political traction was enough to spark outrage on social media.

An X (formerly Twitter) user wrote, "Imagine being so messed up you pray for people to suffer instead of changing your policies," while another asked, "They are so against Trump, that they are hoping for a depression to hurt the American people???"

A person remarked, "That right there tells you everything you need to know about the Democratic Party," and someone else added, "Of course, they hate America and everything it stands for. They want America to fall."

"Who prays for an economic depression on their own people? Voters need to take notice of this," another tweet read.
