Denise Richards reflects on daughters Sami and Lola's 'complicated from day one' bond with Charlie Sheen

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Denise Richards’ daughters, Sami, 20, and Lola, 19, recently discussed the complexities of their bond with their father, Charlie Sheen.

While their relationship has been complicated from the start, they continue to navigate it in their own ways.

Denise Richards says she struggled with her mental health

Speaking about her family dynamics, Denise Richards said, "It’s been [complicated] from day one, and both girls are finding their path in the relationship, and that’s OK. Things can be up and down, but you can always get through it."

Lola shared that her connection with Sheen has improved, particularly because of his support in managing her anxiety and health concerns, according to OK Magazine.

“My life is way more enjoyable when we have a relationship because if not, it’s like, I hate having that feeling of not talking,” she admitted.

“Obviously, we go through ups and downs sometimes, but our relationship is good. When I really started to struggle with my mental health, he really helped me because he’s not very emotional, so he kind of gets straight to the point, and I think that’s what helped me in moments of anxiety. That’s when we got way closer,” she shared.

Meanwhile, Sami chose not to speak about her relationship with her father.

Denise Richards and Charlie Sheen got married in 2002 and welcomed their daughters in 2004 and 2005 before filing for divorce.

Their separation led to a long-running custody and financial dispute.

Reflecting on the past, Richards has expressed concern about how their turbulent relationship impacted their children.

During a past episode of 'The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills', Richards, now married to Aaron Phypers, admitted, “I just feel like I f*****g up a lot with their dad. I don’t want them to look back at their childhood and remember [fights].”

Denise Richard's' reality show 'Denise Richards and Her Wild Things' premiered on March 4. While Charlie Sheen made a guest appearance on the show, Richards revealed that he has been supportive of the project.

“Charlie is always invited to holiday dinners,” she told People.

“There’s always an open door, and that goes for Brooke [Mueller] and the boys as well. I’m always, the more the merrier. I want everyone to get along and everyone to be peaceful,” said Richards.

She hopes the show will give viewers a genuine glimpse into their family life and the challenges they have faced.

“I think that a lot of people will be able to relate to [it],” Richards explained.

“It’s not easy having a blended family. It’s not easy being divorced no matter what the circumstances are, but you do your best to try to keep things as positive and peaceful as possible,” she shared.
