LONDON, ENGLAND: The EE BAFTA Film Awards announced their 2025 nominations on Wednesday, January 15, and it once again snubbed acclaimed actor Denzel Washington.

Despite his extensive accolades, including 10 Oscar nominations and two wins, the BAFTA recognition has remained elusive for Washington throughout his career.

BAFTA reveals nominations for supporting actors

This year, the 70-year-old actor was absent from the supporting actor category for 'Gladiator II', despite receiving nominations at other major award shows such as the Golden Globes.

The BAFTA nominations were revealed on Wednesday, January 15, People reported.

Washington, who had made the long list of potential BAFTA nominees earlier this month, did not advance to the final lineup.

The six nominees in the category are Yura Borisov ('Anora'), Kieran Culkin ('A Real Pain'), Clarence Maclin ('Sing Sing'), Edward Norton ('A Complete Unknown'), Guy Pearce ('The Brutalist'), and Jeremy Strong ('The Apprentice').

Others like Harris Dickinson ('Babygirl'), Mark Eydelshteyn ('Anora'), and Stanley Tucci ('Conclave') also failed to make the cut.

Denzel Washington opens up on his career, says 'I love what I do'

Denzel Washington talked about his career and his thoughts about awards shows in an essay for Esquire in November 2024.

"I love what I do and I’m fortunate that I have this ability to act. And I don’t want to make light of it, but it’s just acting, man. It ain’t rocket science," he wrote in November.

He added, "My mother said, 'Man gives the award, God gives the reward.' So one of them Oscars I won — and that’s the trippy part, isn’t it? How easily that rolls off the tongue? I said 'one of them Oscars'! Man."

Washington also discussed how his accomplishments go beyond acting.

"But no, when I think of what I’m proudest of, anything I’ve accomplished doesn’t even come to mind. It’s our children: They’re good people. They know right from wrong," wrote Washington, who shares four children with his wife, Pauletta.

Fans miffed at Denzel Washington's 'usual' BAFTA snub

One commented, "No Denzel y'all gotta be joking."

Another wrote, "Not nominating Denzel has honestly been embarrassing in the past, but y’all are only making it worse & very obvious. Do better."

"Maclin over Denzel is diabolical u idiots never get it right," another remarked. Another added, "BAFTA won't nominate Denzel Washington ever!!!!!!!"

"You have to laugh that BAFTA’s undefeated streak of never nominating Denzel Washington has continued for yet another year. Incredible," one wrote.

"Very disappointed that THE Denzel has been subbed once again. I cannot believe that he has never received a nomination throughout his entire career," another fan wrote.

David Tennant will host the 2025 EE BAFTA Film Awards on Sunday, February 16, at the Royal Festival Hall in London, according to People. The Oscar nominations will be revealed on January, 23.
