MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Dick Van Dyke's wife, Arlene Silver, recently revealed that the couple has not evacuated their Malibu home as the Los Angeles wildfires continue to tear through Southern California.

Silver shared in an Instagram Live on January 12, that the $8 million house she shares with the 99-year-old actor is still standing despite the devastating blazes, which destroyed other celebrity residences in Malibu and adjacent areas, according to the New York Post.

During the Instagram Live, Silver, who is married to Dyke for the last 13 years, said that the guest house on the Malibu property did catch fire but only sustained minimal damage.

She added that the couple are without power and have been using a gas generator as the Palisades fires have destroyed most of the coastal Pacific Palisades community.

She said, "Keeping Dick warm and entertained has been the two things that have been my top priority, so, you know, we don’t have power […] or regular electricity, so we don’t have Wi-Fi", adding that the two have been relying on her camper to cook and charge their devices, per the outlet.

She also shared that despite the several natural disasters Malibu continually faces, she and Van Dyke have no desire to relocate.

She said, "Dick is more comfortable here than anywhere else. It’s easier to take care of him here."

Silver added, "I don’t know of any other person of, you know, senior citizen age that would put up with this", describing the veteran actor as a "trooper".

Dick Van Dyke barely escapes his Malibu mansion amid wildfires

In December 2024, Dick Van Dyke was lucky enough to escape his Malibu mansion that was hit by the wildfires raging through Southern California.

During an interview with Today in December, Dyke said, "It was coming from the hill, you could see it. And oh my God, and we got out of here. I was trying to crawl to the car, I had exhausted myself, I couldn’t get up."

Luckily, his neighbors rescued him from being hurt or killed by the devastating fires. The legendary actor said, "Three neighbors came and carried me out and came back and put out a little fire in the guest house and saved me."

He later announced on Facebook that he and his wife fled their $8 million hillside home to safety, but were forced to leave behind their beloved cat.

He wrote, "Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo escaped as we were leaving. We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires."

The actor later confirmed on the social media platform that his cat was found. He wrote, "We found Bobo as soon as we arrived back home this morning. There was so much interest in his disappearance that Animal Control was called in to assist. But, thankfully he was easy to find and not harmed."

Several DIck Van Dyke fans sparked concerned as the actor's wife revealed that they did not evacuate their Malibu home as the Los Angeles wildfires continue to tear through Southern California.

Some online comments read "So glad you both are ok. Reach out to us ( your fans) if you guys need anything!!" and "So glad you both are ok. I bet you never thought you’d experience anything like the devastating wildfires. Whats important you and your family are safe."

A person also stated, "So glad to hear you’re safe and sound!" whereas one mentioned, "I’m so glad you’re safe. I know you said Dick wants to stay at the house, I understand but he is our gifted treasure. Please try to convince him to go to a hotel until power is restored. I’ll mind my own business now, just had to say it. Stay safe!"

A user also wrote, "You are brave. I marvel at how strong you all are. Maybe a night in a hotel if you can get one?" while one commented, "Go to a hotel or Airbnb please!! His health is more important than cost. Please??!!"
