DJ Akademiks calls Drake fight against UMG his 'Taylor Swift moment', says unlike her he won't win
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: DJ Akademiks recently claimed that Drake is having his 'Taylor Swift moment' and also predicted that the rapper might not win against UMG due to his alleged lesser fanbase than Swift.
Drake, also known as Drizzy, filed a legal action against UMG and Spotify over Kendrick Lamar’s 'Not Like Us', claiming the song’s numbers were inflated, according to Billboard.

DJ Akademiks predicts Drake might not win against UMG
During a recent live stream on YouTube, DJ Akademiks discussed the legal battle between Drake and UMG. He compared it to Taylor Swift's infamous legal battle with Big Machine Records and Scooter Braun.
He said during the live stream, "I said Drake is having his Taylor Swift moment. [However,] I'm not saying that he's gonna be successful, because Taylor Swift fans rolled with Taylor Swift."
He continued, "They made the label say, 'Taylor, you are right and we can't go against you and so many people who love your music. We're gonna make things right with you even if we take a loss.'"
Notably, DJ Akademiks brought two points that separated Drake's situation from Swift's. First, Taylor has a larger fan base than Drake and second, Drake is not as transparent with his fans as Swift.
He added that Swift used to regularly update her fans about her legal battle with Big Machine Records and Scooter Braun which led to their support. However, he added, that Drake has failed to build a similar connection with his fans.
Drake's second legal action against UMG
Drizzy filed a second action in New York against UMG on November 25 by accusing the music giant of including iHeart to allegedly boost 'Not Like Us'.
Moreover, his legal team also alleged that UMG could have stopped the distribution of 'Not Like Us' but decided to allegedly pool their resources to boost the popularity of the track.
Drake's lawyers claimed, "UMG could have refused to release or distribute the song or required the offending material to be edited and/or removed. But UMG chose to do the opposite."
They added, "UMG designed, financed and then executed a plan to turn ‘Not Like Us’ into a viral mega-hit with the intent of using the spectacle of harm to Drake and his businesses to drive consumer hysteria and, of course, massive revenues."
Moreover, Drizzy's legal team alleged, "UMG charged Spotify licensing rates 30 percent lower than its usual licensing rates for 'Not Like Us' in exchange for Spotify affirmatively recommending the song to users who are searching for other unrelated songs and artists."
