PHOENIX, ARIZONA: GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump labeled Barack and Michelle Obama "nasty" at an Arizona rally on Friday, August 23, for taking jibes at him during the recently held Democratic National Convention.

Trump held his second rally in the Grand Canyon State for his 2024 presidential campaign. In the rally, which was attended by famous Arizona MAGA enthusiasts, he spent more than an hour giving a disjointed and sometimes rambling speech, as per The Hill.

Donald Trump said during the rally while referring to the DNC speeches by Barack and Michelle Obama, "He was nasty to me. He was nasty. Michelle was nasty. They’re all nasty."

He also slammed his Democrat opponent Kamala Harris for repeatedly attacking him during her acceptance speech on Thursday, August 22. He took jibes at her for thanking the crowd many times as they gave her a thunderous applause before she began her speech.

Trump said his advisers have suggested he should "stick to policy, don’t stick to personality". He said, "I call them up, my geniuses, they get paid a fortune. Actually, not that much. I say, ‘They’re knocking the hell out of me and you say I shouldn’t get personal. I have to get personal. They get personal."

He added, "So they’re allowed to get personal with me but I’m not allowed to get personal to them. They call me names that are so bad. Our great first lady says, 'But you’re not that way, darling.'"

During his appearance on the second night of the DNC, Barack Obama slammed Trump for his obsession with crowd sizes and made a hand gesture likely mocking the GOP nominee which quickly went viral. After this came Michelle Obama's sharp critique of Trump where she flipped one of his controversial campaign lines, referencing "Black jobs".

Trump has had a  long history of feuding with Barack Obama. Long before Trump entered the political arena, he was one of the most vocal proponents of the "birther" conspiracy, a baseless claim that Obama was not born in the United States and therefore, ineligible to serve as president.

This conspiracy theory was widely discredited, but it played a significant role in Trump’s rise to political prominence.

Robert F Kennedy Jr joins Donald Trump at Arizona rally

Independent presidential candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr joined Donald Trump on stage at the rally in Glendale, Arizona after dropping out of the race and endorsed the former US president.

RFK Jr said that the principles that had led him to leave the Democratic party had now compelled him "to throw my support to President Trump". He said earlier said in a press conference that he would look to remove his name from the ballot in 10 battleground states.
