WASHINGTON, DC: Former President Donald Trump continued his criticism of ABC News as he sought to redirect his focus to the upcoming presidential debate on Monday, July 22.

This comes as Vice President Kamala Harris emerges as the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination following President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the 2024 race.

The 78-year-old MAGA strongman has been initiating preliminary steps to evade or modify the terms of the forthcoming debate, which is scheduled for September 10 and will be aired on ABC, according to HuffPost.

Donald Trump attacks Kamala Harris and ABC News as he looks to evade upcoming debate

Taking to Truth Social, Donald Trump wrote, "ABC Fake News is such a joke, among the absolute WORST in the business. They try to make Crooked Joe into a brave warrior because he didn’t have the 'guts' to fight it out — He quit! They then tried to make ‘Sleepy’ look like a great President — he was the WORST, and Lyin’ Kamala into a competent person, which she is not."

"ABC, the home of George Slopadopolus, is not worthy of holding a Debate, of which I hope there will be many!" added the former president, taking a dig at ABC News anchor George Stephanopoulos.

Trump's initial debate against Biden proved to be quite successful for his campaign, and last week he was officially nominated at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee for the third consecutive time.

He has now shifted his focus to Harris, criticizing her involvement in the White House and the Biden administration's policies related to the southern border with Mexico.

On Sunday, the ex-POTUS expressed his dissatisfaction at Biden's decision to quit the race, saying Republicans had put in a considerable amount of "time and money" to oppose him. He even suggesting that Democrats should compensate the Republican Party for "fraud."

Harris officially launched her presidential bid on Monday, raising a staggering $81 million in 24 hours. She emphasized her extensive experience as a prosecutor, contrasting it with Trump's roster of legal woes.

She said, "In those roles, I took on perpetrators of all kinds — predators who abused women, fraudsters who ripped off consumers, cheaters who broke the rules for their own gain. So hear me when I say, I know Donald Trump’s type."

Internet reacts as Donald Trump tries to dodge debating Kamala Harris

Donald Trump has launched several attacks on Kamala Harris since Joe Biden endorsed her as his successor after withdrawing from the race. Many believe the former president is insecure and scared of facing the vice president.

One wrote, "That old fella is scared lmao," and another said, "He never does too well when facing a prosecutor."

A person remarked, "He knows VP Harris would dissect him, and he can’t stand the idea of a black woman destroying him." "He can't debate, he has NO platform. His whole campaign was going to be Joe is old and hunters laptop," claimed one more.

Someone else quipped, "From Draft Dodger to Debate Dodger. (plus always a tax dodger)," while another person said, "Lol....now that he is up against Kamala Harris, he will dodge debates. He knows his lying a** will not only be exposed, it will be whipped and kicked."
