WASHINGTON, DC: Donald Trump has weighed in on the Idaho college murders case, urging convicted killer Bryan Kohberger to publicly disclose his motive before sentencing.

Kohberger, 30, recently pleaded guilty to the brutal 2022 slayings of four University of Idaho students, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, as part of a plea deal that spared him the death penalty.

Despite admitting to the killings, Kohberger has not provided any explanation for his actions, and investigators have found no known link between him and the victims.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump slammed the plea agreement and called on the judge to compel Kohberger to reveal his motive in court.

Donald Trump urges judge to make Bryan Kohberger explain why 'he committed these horrific crimes'

Donald Trump has called on the judge overseeing Bryan Kohberger’s sentencing to demand an explanation for the brutal murders that shocked the nation.

Trump made the remarks on Monday, July 21, in a Truth Social post, following Kohberger’s plea deal that spared him the death penalty.

"Bryan Kohberger, who was responsible, in Idaho, for the deaths of four wonderful young souls, has made a plea bargain deal in order to avoid the Death Penalty," Trump wrote. "These were vicious murders, with so many questions left unanswered."

He continued, "While life imprisonment is severe, it’s still better than the death penalty. But before sentencing, I believe the judge should, at the very least, make Kohberger explain why he committed these horrific crimes."

"There are no explanations, there is no NOTHING," Trump added. "People were shocked that he was able to plea bargain, but the Judge should make him explain what happened. Thank you for your attention to this matter!"

Bryan Kohberger has admitted to the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students: 21-year-old Kaylee Goncalves, her best friend Madison Mogen, also 21, and 20-year-old couple Xana Kernodle and Ethan Chapin.

In a chilling confession, Kohberger detailed how he broke into the students’ off-campus home in Moscow, Idaho, during the early hours of November 13, 2022, and fatally stabbed all four victims. He was arrested approximately six weeks later but spent more than two years fighting the charges.

Just weeks before his trial was set to begin in August, Kohberger reached a controversial plea agreement with prosecutors. He changed his plea to guilty on all four counts of murder and one count of burglary.

Under the terms of the deal, Kohberger will avoid the death penalty. Instead, he will serve life in prison without the possibility of parole and has waived all rights to appeal his sentence.

The plea deal sparked outrage from the Goncalves family. Kaylee’s father, Steve Goncalves, staged a protest outside the Ada County Courthouse in Boise on July 2, where the change-of-plea hearing took place.

Now that the case will not go to trial, Judge Steven Hippler has lifted a broad gag order that had previously restricted public comment. However, he has not yet released all records related to the investigation.

Despite Kohberger’s confession, he has not offered any explanation for his actions. To date, authorities have found no known connection between him and the victims, leaving the families still in the dark about what motivated the deadly attack.
