LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'Vanderpump Rules' star Tom Sandoval has apologized for making "inappropriate" comparisons between himself, George Floyd and OJ Simpson.

His remarks, drawing parallels between his own infidelity scandal and the notorious cases involving OJ Simpson and the tragic death of George Floyd, have faced widespread criticism.

Tom Sandoval compares his cheating scandal to OJ Simpson and George Floyd

The New York Times Magazine published a profile on the 40-year-old Tom Sandoval, in which he delved into the reasons behind the widespread discussion of "Scandoval."

The term "Scandoval" emerged after reports surfaced alleging that he cheated on his longtime girlfriend, Ariana Madix, with their mutual friend, Rachel Leviss.

On Wednesday, the publicist for the 'Vanderpump Rules' star issued a statement addressing the controversial remarks, in which Sandoval questioned, "I'm not a pop-culture historian really, but I witnessed the OJ Simpson thing and George Floyd and all these big things, which is really weird to compare this to that, I think, but do you think in a weird way it's a little bit the same?"

The statement further clarified, "My intentions behind the comments I made in New York Times Magazine were to explain the level of national media attention my affair received. The comparison was inappropriate and ignorant. I'm incredibly sorry and embarrassed."

The interviewer tried to provide additional context to Sandoval’s contentious quote, ''I think I knew what he meant. He was trying to express the oddity of becoming the symbolic center of a nationwide discussion and a major news story."

"What he communicated instead was something more honest, which is just how much the experience had made him lose perspective."

Before the publication of the story, Bravo, the network that broadcasts Sandoval's popular reality show 'Vanderpump Rules,' became aware of his remarks.

The interviewer wrote, "A Bravo publicist rang me late on a Friday. Some of what Sandoval had said had gotten back to Bravo, and everyone was concerned. What was it that he said about OJ Simpson and George Floyd exactly?"

Tom Sandoval's cheating scandal

After a decade-long relationship with Ariana Madix, Sandoval had an affair with his 'Vanderpump Rules' co-star Rachel Leviss.

In an interview, he reportedly expressed feeling that he received more backlash than convicted rapist Danny Masterson.

After the affair led to a breakup with Madix, Leviss admitted herself to a mental health facility and has not been in contact with Sandoval since June.

Despite efforts to reach out to Leviss through her publicist after her return from the facility, Sandoval has reportedly been unable to establish contact.

Sandoval expressed, "She never even gave me any closure. It was really hard. It still messes with me," per Daily Mail

Internet stirs over Tom Sandoval's apology

A user took to Twitter and remarked, "He believed it when he said it and probably still doesn’t understand what was wrong with his comparison."

Another person wrote, "I finally understand why he needs a publicist. When he speaks, completely offensive garbage comes out."

"He meant what he said. Don’t back down now Tom. Just add it to the list of his moral deficiencies," added a user.

Another person remarked, "He’s only sorry he’s getting called out, that man is disgusting."
