MANHATTAN, NEW YORK CITY: Killer Mike found himself in a clash with 'The View' host Sunny Hostin regarding his current political stance during his appearance on the February 12 episode.

Moreover, when the co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin inquired why he was hesitant to endorse President Joe Biden, the Grammy-winning rapper, known for his longstanding activism within progressive circles, noted that it was imperative to prioritize local communities.

Killer Mike advocates for local engagement in politics, highlights Atlanta's Mayoral race, and Georgia Governor Brian Kemp

During his appearance on 'The View', Killer Mike expressed, "We get caught up in the soap opera of federal elections and that's fine, but if you are concerned with the federal election, and you don't know your city council, your wardsman, you don't know who your mayor is."

He added, "And you don't have a good list of state representatives or governor, then you're just a part of whoever wins the Super Bowl, the fanfare."

He highlighted Atlanta's mayoral race as the most crucial for him, particularly commending Mayor Andre Dickens for his efforts in addressing housing issues in the city.

Additionally, as an Atlanta native, Killer Mike, also offered praise for Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, acknowledging his positive impact on businesses in the state.

The rapper noted, "In terms of nationally, I’m just kind of doing what my grandfather said. Staying out of White folks' business and watching what happens. I’m going to see what happens."

"If there’s a candidate that pops up around September, October, that needs a push that’s really, policy-wise is good for us that’s going to jump up, but right now I don’t want to be involved in the soap opera because I’m worried about what’s going on in Atlanta on the hyper-local level," asserted the 'RUN' artist.

Kemp occupies a distinct position in politics, emerging as a figure of contention among Democrats due to his gubernatorial victories over party favorite Stacey Abrams in 2018 and 2022, alongside his backing of voting reforms criticized by liberals as suppression tactics.

He did draw flak from former President Donald Trump for not endorsing his narrative of the 2020 election fraud, as per The Guardian

When Hostin expressed her disagreement with Killer Mike's support of Kemp, the rapper offered a rebuttal. "Not support of Kemp," clarified the rapper, adding, "That's some misinformation. You can not like me, but don't lie on me."

He affirmed, "He's the governor of my state, I have to be involved with him, I can't divorce myself."

Killer Mike subsequently noted, "But let me say this, if you criticize someone, don't lie. Don't say I didn’t support [Stacey] Abrams because I did. Don’t say I don’t support Democrats because I’ve helped get three Democratic mayors elected, two state representatives elected, but if someone is in the king’s seat, I’m not going to not have dinner with the king on behalf of my people. I have to do that."

Hostin proceeded to offer Killer Mike a list of accomplishments by the Biden administration for the Black community, highlighting achievements such as low unemployment rates, investments in Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), and increases in Black wealth.

She expressed her hope that he would consider her points.

Further into the episode, the rapper, who was recently arrested at the 2024 Grammys, declined to directly comment on the circumstances and said, "I think the backstage was overcrowded. I think the winners were exuberant, and I think security got a little over-zealous, and it’s water under the bridge for me."
