LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Doug Kiker, known for his memorable appearance on 'American Idol' as "The Singing Garbage Man", tragically died at the age of 32 on Monday, March 10.
The cause of death has yet to be revealed. Kiker, who auditioned for the 18th season of the competition show with Rascal Flatts’ 'Bless the Broken Road', captured the hearts of many with his unique story and talent.
His death was confirmed by his ex-fiancee Valerie Cook, as well as his sister Angela and brother William, who are all mourning the loss of their beloved family member.

In an emotional post on social media on Wednesday, March 12, she expressed her gratitude for the overwhelming support from friends and family, thanking everyone for their calls, messages, and continued prayers during this difficult time.
Angela wrote, "This was completely unexpected we are completely unprepared and are gonna need a little help getting him home from denver colorado and being able to give the memorial that not only he but anyone deserves."
She continued, reflecting on the challenges her family has faced in recent years, saying, "Lord know we have been threw so much these past few years! Douglas Kiker you will live forever in our hearts. I miss you soooo."
She also shared on Facebook saying, "It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce the passing of my brother Douglas Kiker he was sooo loved and will be missed by so many! Your singing with the Angel's now Bubba Please pray for our family as we go threw this very difficult time."
Doug’s brother, William, also paid tribute to him on Facebook, writing, “Dear brother I just want you to know that know matter where you are you will always be my baby brother."
He added, "I just wish I had more time with you so until I can see you again say hey to bubba for me and tell him I love him rest in peace Douglas Kiker my baby brother," as per DailyMail.
Doug shares two daughters with his ex Valerie, who told TMZ she “hates” that their daughters have lost their father.

A GoFundMe page was created on Wednesday to help cover funeral expenses for 'American Idol' alum Doug Kiker, with the aim of raising $4,500. As of now, it has raised $3,663.
The page features cherished photos of Kiker and a heartfelt message that read: “Help Us Lay Our Loved One to Rest It is with heavy hearts that we have to say goodbye to one of the most sincere souls and most hilarious person of all. Douglas, a beloved son, brother, father and friend.”
The message continued, “We are now left with the difficult task of bringing him home and covering funeral expenses. We are reaching out for help to honor Douglas's memory and give him a proper farewell.”
The description concluded with, “Any contribution, no matter the amount, will go directly to the funeral costs and allow us to navigate this difficult time without the added financial burden. Who was Doug Kiker?
In 2020, Doug Kiker gained widespread attention when he appeared on 'American Idol' during its 18th season. He auditioned with a heartfelt rendition of 'Bless the Broken Road' by Rascal Flatts, earning a standing ovation from the judges and even bringing Katy Perry to tears.
Despite his strong performance, Kiker didn’t make it past Hollywood Week, where he performed 'Ain’t No Mountain High Enough' after mistakenly singing the wrong song earlier. At the time, he expressed his determination, saying, “I just don't want to let my family down... I've been a good man my whole life.”
Although Doug didn't make it to the Top 20, he remained proud of his journey, commenting on his final performance, “I think I did pretty well for it being my first time.”
