Katy Perry and Taylor Swift’s infamous feud

Once locked in a high-profile music feud, Perry and Swift are now proving that even the fiercest rivals can become allies.
Their conflict dates back to 2014 when Swift accused Perry of “sabotaging an entire arena tour” by poaching her backup dancers. Perry fired back with a cryptic tweet, calling Swift a “Regina George in sheep’s clothing” - a reference to the movie 'Mean Girls'.
What followed was a musical face-off, Swift’s 'Bad Blood' and Perry’s 'Swish Swish', both widely believed to be aimed at each other.

The long-running feud came to an end in 2018 when Katy extended an olive branch literally along with a handwritten note to Taylor as a gesture of reconciliation.
Reflecting on the rift in a 2019 interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Perry admitted, "It was really unfortunate but we made amends and I'm all about redemption and forgiveness and for setting an example for those younger people that it can be cool to ask for forgiveness and confront someone that you may have an issue with or a problem with and talk it out."
Their friendship only grew from there.
Swift sent Perry a thoughtful baby gift before the birth of her daughter Daisy in 2020, and in February 2024, Perry attended Swift’s Eras Tour in Sydney to show her support. “Got to see an old friend shine tonight,” Perry wrote on Instagram.
