Dr Phil tells 'The View' hosts that children crossing southern US border being shipped to 'sweatshops'

NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: During an appearance on 'The View', Dr Phil McGraw discussed his observations from a recent visit to the southern border of the United States. 

Dr Phil claimed that he spoke to "all border guards down there" and the head of the border patrol union informed him that migrant children are being pushed into exploitative situations like being forced to work at "sweatshops."

Dr Phil reveals distressing realities faced by migrant children at the border

Dr Phil shared insights into the distressing realities faced by migrant children at the border with co-host Sunny Hostin.

“I talked to the head of all the border guards down there, the head of the union. I ask him straight-up, kids are coming over the border with numbers written on them, phone numbers and addresses. Do we check those out? He said, well, we call them," says Dr Phil. 

According to Dr Phil, the head of the union replied that it is "it's not possible, it is absolute" that American tax dollars are being used to "ship children" to sweatshops.

Ana Navarro inquired about the screening process at the border, prompting Dr Phil to explain that authorities typically contact the provided numbers and inquire about the children's circumstances.

Dr Phil also revealed that the border official told him that in "a number of cases" agencies that received the migrant children have turned out to be "absolute sweatshops."

Sunny Hostin questioned the whereabouts of the US attorney’s office, expressing concern about their awareness of the issues unfolding at the border.

“You mentioned that there are children crossing the border with numbers and names. Many of them are – those names belong to their family members, but you’re saying – and that’s true, but ... some of them are sweatshop trafficked. Why do you think the federal government is not involved? Why isn’t the US attorney involved? Is it a resource issue?” she asked. “Have they reached out to the Biden administration about it?" Hostin asked. 

Dr Phil slams Biden administration over border crisis

Dr Phil suggested that the issue likely stemmed from resource constraints, indicating that it was challenging to ascertain whether the US attorney’s office had reached out to the Biden administration regarding the situation.

"They say that they’re so overwhelmed with processing that that’s all they can do. They’ve become social workers and processors, and not investigators and border guards, because they’re just processing, processing, processing," he responded.

McGraw elaborated on his observations from his visit to the border in a video shared on social media in early February.

In another video posted to the platform, the former 'Dr Phil' host referenced Texas GOP Governor Greg Abbott’s assertion that President Biden failed to enforce protection laws, thus "enticing" thousands of migrants to bypass legal entry points into the US.

“Texas law enforcement has seized over 454 million lethal doses of fentanyl during this mission. Governor Abbott has said that the federal government has broken the pact between the United States federal government and the states,” McGraw said. “Governor Abbott says President Biden has refused to enforce those laws and has even violated them.”

“The result is a humanitarian crisis, unlike anything we’ve seen before, smashing records for illegal immigration by wasting taxpayer dollars to tear open Texas border security infrastructure,” he continued.

“Governor Abbott says President Biden has enticed tens of thousands of illegal immigrants away from 28 legal entry points along the Texas border and into the dangerous deadly waters of the Rio Grande." 

Internet hails Dr Phil for 'speaking the truth' 

McGraw's statements received mixed reactions with one saying, "And that my friends is the last time you will see Dr Phil on the View", however, another praised him, "this is the truth, i cant wait to hear more of the ramifications off lock downs on young people and the border crisis talked about. Shine a light Dr Phil."

While one said, "This may be the first time the truth has ever been spoken on this show. God bless you Dr Phill" and another wrote, "I love he brought these facts about the border and children", one more individual voiced, "'Wait... Phil... you're... you're not ... ONE OF THEM... are you!? You do know that this is THE View, right? THE View. What you're saying doesn't align at all with THE View."
