PALM BEACH, FLORIDA: When Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson speaks, people listen. And the world took notice when he had some positive things to say about former president Donald Trump.
Johnson spoke at the Vault Conference in Florida last week. He didn’t just talk about movies or his wrestling days—he delved into one of the most iconic moments in recent political history: the assassination attempt on Trump.
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson praises Donald Trump’s defiance
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson touched on the chilling incident on July 13 when an assassination attempt nearly claimed Trump’s life. During a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, 20-year old shooter Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire at Trump. One bullet grazed the former president's ear.
One victim, Corey Comperatore, was fatally shot while protecting his family from the hail of bullets. Meanwhile, 57-year-old David Dutch and 74-year-old James Copenhaver were gravely wounded and have since recovered.
It was a moment that could have easily ended in tragedy, but it became one of the most historic images in modern American politics..
As Trump stood up after being shot, he pumped his fist in the air and repeatedly shouted, “Fight!” It was a scene straight out of a blockbuster movie—only this was real life.
Johnson didn’t hold back his admiration for Trump’s defiance. “Whether you love Donald, don’t love Donald, it doesn’t matter. They tried to assassinate him. There’s no room for that,” he said.
“Despite it being who we were in that moment, I still believe in my core that is not who we are as a country.”
“So him standing up at that moment, we wanted to see that," Johnson added.
It's worth noting that Johnson has a personal connection with Trump. The Rock fondly recalled the days when the former real estate mogul would attend his wrestling matches at Madison Square Garden.
“It was great,” Johnson reminisced. “First time I saw him, he said, ‘Let me see the eyebrows,’” he quipped.
Despite his praise for Trump, Johnson clarified that he won’t be publicly endorsing any presidential candidate this year. The pro-wrestling star endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in 2020.
Back in April, Johnson hinted at his dissatisfaction with the current status quo of America. “Am I happy with the state of America right now? Well, that answer’s no," he declared.

"Hmm..... Looks like the Rock is trying to get back into heaven again to me ..... He knows Trump will win and the Rock's fate is in his hands .... sorry not sorry ... still thinking back to his stunt with Oprah and the Maui fires," another pointed out.

"Do you all have the memory of a gnat or something? Dwayne The Rock Johnson campaigned actively for Joe Biden. He's just changing because he sees the way the wind is blowing," someone else offered.
"Interesting.. it definitely seems the mood has shifted somewhat since 2020 These same people weren’t talking like this back then," a comment read.
"The tide is turning, and more big names will start coming out of the shadows to support Trump. Hollywood knows the truth—they just need the courage to say it. Let’s hope this is the start of something big!" another chimed in.

Even Mark Zuckerberg had lauded Donald Trump's resilience after assassination attempt
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson isn’t the only high-profile figure to praise Donald Trump’s reaction to the assassination attempt. In July, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also lauded Trump’s resilience.
“Seeing Donald Trump get up after getting shot in the face and pump his fist in the air with the American flag is one of the most bada** things I’ve ever seen in my life,” he said during an interview at Meta’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California, Fox News reported.
“On some level as an American, it’s like hard to not get kind of emotional about that spirit and that fight, and I think that that’s why a lot of people like the guy,” he added.
