Dwayne Johnson mourns death of his pet dog Hobbs in emotional tribute: 'I've been numb over this loss'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dwayne Johnson is grieving the loss of his beloved dog, Hobbs.

On Tuesday, February 25, the actor, 52, shared an emotional tribute on Instagram, announcing Hobbs' death.

Dwayne Johnson posted a carousel of photos and videos of their time together.

"RIP ❤️ Hobbs. I’ve been numb over this loss, but we’re so grateful for every ounce of pure love he gave our entire family and we’re so grateful he didn’t suffer long as he quietly and bravely left in the night," he wrote on Instagram.

He added, "Lately, there’s been a lot that’s too big to talk about. Lonesome, lonely, heard it’s all the same."

The actor also shared his feelings about Hobbs' afterlife, writing, "One of my favorite songs felt appropriate here, as I wonder what’s going on his new world, because I know what it’s like in mine."

"Not sure how spirits work but come back and visit every once in a while so we can get in trouble and laugh again. 🥃💔," he added in the post.

Dwayne Johnson's dog once joined GQ cover shoot 

Dwayne Johnson often shared moments with Hobbs on social media.

In November 2024, he proudly posted photos of the pup joining him on his GQ cover shoot, according to People.

In 2019, Johnson revealed that he cast Hobbs in his 'Fast & Furious' movie 'Hobbs & Shaw'.

The actor’s love for dogs extended beyond his pets, as he also surprised a family with a rescue puppy during a screening of his animated film 'DC League of Super-Pets' in 2022.

"I LOVE surprising audiences of our @sevenbucksprod films, but this #DCSuperPets screening surprise was special," Johnson wrote on Instagram at the time.

"I dressed up as my character, KRYPTO, and surprised two audiences here at @cinemark in LA. Best part was finding a loving home with the Hernandez family for my lil' guy, Quail," he continued. "An incredible night all in the spirit of celebrating PETS."

Internet pays tribute to Dwayne Johnson's dog

Tributes poured in for Dwayne Johnson following his dog Hobbs' death. American neuroscientist Andrew Huberman commented on Instagram, "So very sorry for your loss."

Another person wrote, "My condolences. Pets are family and losing one is very difficult. Prayers to you and yours."

A third added, "Sending you healing! He’ll always be with you!"

"Not easy losing a family member…," one more wrote.
