Dwayne Johnson speaks up on controversy over on-set tardiness, admits to peeing in bottles to save time
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has finally addressed rumors surrounding his behavior on the set of his latest film, 'Red One'.
The 52-year-old actor, featured in GQ's 'Men of the Year' edition, spoke out about claims that his alleged chronic tardiness and unconventional bathroom habits caused significant disruptions during production.
Dwayne Johnson's delays allegedly cost $50M to 'Red One' production
Reports first surfaced in April 2024 that Dwayne Johnson was often late to the set, sometimes by as many as eight hours, leading to costly delays.
Insiders claimed that these delays added a whopping $50 million to the film’s budget, bringing the total production cost to a staggering $250 million.
Johnson admitted to some delays but dismissed the reported figures as exaggerated.
“Yeah, that happens. But not that amount, by the way. That was a bananas amount. That’s crazy. Ridiculous,” he told GQ.
Dwayne Johnson agrees to have urinated in bottles to save time, later disposed of by assistants
One of the more bizarre allegations was that Dwayne Johnson would often urinate into water bottles on set to save time, a practice that reportedly irked some crew members.
When confronted with this claim during his interview, the actor surprisingly confirmed it as he said, “Yeah. That happens."
An insider previously claimed that when Johnson was away from his trailer, he would urinate into a Voss water bottle rather than using public restrooms, with assistants later disposing of it, according to The Wrap.
The claim sparked reactions online, but Johnson shrugged it off in his latest interview as he appeared unfazed by the bizarre accusations.

One insider described the situation as a “f******g disaster,” while another stated, “Dwayne truly doesn’t give a f**k.”
According to the sources, Johnson's lack of punctuality forced the production crew to adjust schedules, shoot around him, and even extend filming, which reportedly inflated the budget by eight figures.
However, the 'Rampage' actor fiercely refuted the extent of the accusations, calling the overall controversy “b******t.”
He emphasized that while delays can happen, the numbers and stories reported were grossly exaggerated.
Chris Evans comes to Dwayne Johnson's defense
Chris Evans, who co-stars alongside Johnson in 'Red One', also weighed in on the controversy.
In his interview with GQ, Evans praised Johnson for his professionalism, dismissing the claims of unpredictability and lack of consideration for others.
“In terms of the guy that I saw, compared to some of the things I’ve seen on other movies with other actors who are not only not conscious of other people’s time and efforts, but they’re unpredictable?" said Evans.
"I found Dwayne to be — we all know exactly what he’s going to do when he’s going to do it,” he shared.
Agreeing that Johnson mostly works out in the mornings before coming on set, Evans said, "But this is something that the producers, the director, and it’s all his team, so they all know this."
"So it’s all basic. It’s not like he’s late unexpectedly, and I wouldn’t even call it late," he continued.
"He comes in slightly later on certain mornings, but it’s part of the plan. It’s worked into the schedules and everyone knows it, so he shows up when he’s scheduled to show up," 'The Captain America' star added.
