LONDON, ENGLAND: Ellen DeGeneres celebrated Pride Month by marking her 18th wedding anniversary early with her wife, Portia de Rossi. The pair will enter their 19th year of marriage on August 16.
The former talk show host and the Australian-American former actress said “I do” in August 2008.

To honor Pride Month, DeGeneres shared a tribute to de Rossi on Wednesday, June 24, posting their wedding photo, which appeared on the cover of PEOPLE's September 1, 2008, issue.
The 68-year-old comedian captioned the image, “Being married is the greatest joy of my life. It has been for 18 years. Happy Pride.”
The social media post shows DeGeneres and de Rossi smiling and laughing in their Zac Posen-designed wedding outfits. The text on the magazine cover reads, “Ellen and Portia’s wedding! The rings, the cakes, the flowers! All the details from their emotional and intimate at-home ceremony.”
Portia de Rossi recalls emotional wedding
At the time of their wedding, Portia de Rossi told PEOPLE that tying the knot “is not something we've ever taken for granted. That we get to do this, it means a lot.”
Reflecting on their big day, the 53-year-old added, “The love we felt from the people surrounding us, and the love we have for each other, made it the most beautiful and emotional day.”
DeGeneres was equally thrilled to have de Rossi as her life partner, saying, “I'm the luckiest girl in the world. She's now officially off the market. No one else gets her. And now she'll cook and clean for me.”
The actress also said that getting married “feels different.” “I was already planning on spending the rest of my life with her. But until you're married, you just don't know. It feels wonderful,” she added.
Ellen DeGeneres explains UK move
The anniversary post came days after DeGeneres and de Rossi were spotted enjoying a holiday in Mallorca, Spain. Kris Jenner was also accompanying the couple.
The pair has been living in the UK for the past couple of years. One of the reasons behind the move was the US political climate.
“We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, 'He got in.’ And we're like, 'We're staying here,’” DeGeneres once reportedly shared, seemingly referring to President Donald Trump.
