Ellen DeGeneres 'jealous' of Kelly Clarkson's talk show success after singer took over her TV slot
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Ellen DeGeneres is believed to be jealous of Kelly Clarkson as her talk show is reportedly doing well after taking over the retired comedian's chat series' former time slot.
A tipster revealed that the 66-year-old has been keeping a close eye on the singer’s ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show’ after it began airing at the same time as ‘The Ellen DeGeneres Show’ used to come on TV, as per OK! Magazine.
The source shared, "Ellen is still tuning in and hearing how well Kelly is doing and how she’s crushing it in the ratings, how every celeb wants to get on her show."
Ellen DeGeneres apparently believes Kelly Clarkson is 'being two-faced'
The insider added, "It wasn’t so long ago that they all wanted to be Ellen’s friend. It really sticks in her throat," before claiming that the retired comedian thinks Kelly Clarkson is "being two-faced."
"Kelly had been a frequent guest on the show. Ellen's aware of the rumors of people not supporting her when she was at her lowest, and Kelly is top of her list!" they added.
DeGeneres' show, which ran for 13 seasons and earned her 33 Daytime Emmy Awards, ended in May 2022 after she faced accusations of creating a hostile work environment on her set.
On her recent Netflix comedy special, 'For Your Approval', she claimed she wasn't affected by what other people thought of her. She said, "When you're a public figure, you're open to everyone’s interpretation. And I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that, 'What other people think of me is none of my business.'"
"Because people will say all kinds of things and you have no control over that. But you know the truth and that’s all that matters," the 'Finding Nemo' star asserted.
Kelly Clarkson once said she held 'the Oprahs and the Ellens in high regard'
Kelly Clarkson praised Ellen DeGeneres after her show was given the afternoon time slot of the comedian's daytime talk show.
In September 2022, she said, as per Variety, "Nobody is going to fill Ellen’s shoes. I hold the Oprahs and the Ellens in such high regard. Very few people can conquer what they conquered."
"My team is very stoked, and I believe in my team. But by no means am I filling anyone's shoes — I don’t want that pressure," the 'American Idol' winner gushed.
Clarkson further expressed, "I remember Oprah had that spot forever. And then Ellen came in. And I think what’s helpful for me is that those two women are very different — how they did their shows was very different, how they connected with people was different, their humor was different."
"One was a comedian, one was a journalist, and both were successful. To fill that slot doesn’t mean you have to do one thing — it’s important that we all stand out, and that we’re all different," the 'Stronger' hitmaker noted.
The 42-year-old has been hosting 'The Kelly Clarkson Show', described as an "uplifting daytime destination for humor, heart, and connection," since 2019. On December 15, the daytime variety talk show was renewed for a seventh season. To date, it has earned 22 Daytime Emmy Awards.
