WASHINGTON, DC: Elon Musk has thrown down the gauntlet in a fiery clash with Donald Trump.

Taking to his platform X, Musk warned that Trump’s controversial “Big, Beautiful Bill” could open the door to dangerous abuses of power.

The sharp rebuke came after Trump made the startling suggestion that Musk could face deportation, a threat issued in response to Musk's proposal to launch a new political movement, the 'American Party,' and his criticism of the bill as “insane.”

Elon Musk has issued a stark warning about Donald Trump’s sweeping new megabill, claiming it could lead to dangerous presidential overreach.

He took particular issue with a provision in Trump’s so-called “One, Big, Beautiful Bill” that would eliminate funding for the enforcement of federal contempt of court orders.

“Removal of funding for enforcement of federal contempt of court orders is the actual crux of this spending bill,” Musk wrote on X, calling it a serious threat.

“This is nominally aimed at removal of illegal immigrants, but obviously also enables many other abuses of power by the President,” Musk posted on X on Tuesday, July 2.

He even launched a poll on the platform asking whether such a move should be allowed. According to Daily Boulder, 63.4% of respondents said no, while 36.4% said yes. When one user warned the bill could be “very dangerous in future,” Musk simply replied: “Very.”

Donald Trump hints at possible deportation of Elon Musk

The escalating feud between Donald Trump and Elon Muskhas taken a dramatic turn, with the former president hinting at possible deportation for the billionaire tech mogul.

Speaking on Tuesday, July 1, Trump unleashed a scathing post on TruthSocial, “Elon may get more subsidy than any human being in history, by far, and without subsidies, Elon would probably have to close up shop and head back home to South Africa. No more Rocket launches, Satellites, or Electric Car Production, and our Country would save a fortune. Perhaps we should have DOGE take a good, hard, look at this? Big money to be saved!!!”

Later that day at the White House, Trump doubled down, warning that Musk could face serious consequences for opposing his so-called “Big, Beautiful Bill.” “He’s upset that he’s losing his EV mandate,” Trump said. “He could lose a lot more than that, I can tell you right now. Elon could lose a lot more than that.”

When pressed by reporters on whether he was suggesting deportation, despite Musk being a naturalized US citizen, Trump responded, “I don’t know, we’ll have to take a look.”

He then added cryptically, “We might have to put DOGE on Elon. You know what DOGE is? DOGE is the monster that might have to go back and eat Elon. Wouldn’t that be terrible? He gets a lot of subsidies. Elon’s very upset that the EV mandate is going to be terminated.”

Internet sparks debate after Elon Musk issues warning over Donald Trump's bill

After Elon Musk sounded the alarm about Donald Trump’s proposed bill, responding to the former president’s veiled deportation threat, users on X quickly began weighing in with their own opinions.

One user wrote, "Elon, stop this madness. You are criticising the greatest President the country has ever had. A man who invited you into his home, shared his family with you and so much more. Your betrayal is morally incomprehensible. Reverse course at once."

A user criticized, "I wonder how many bots answered this poll? Absolutely useless."

A user declared, "I trust Trump."

An X user wrote, "Elon, kindly stop polling the entire (third) world on debate about American politics. Unless you are going to restrict by geographical location, the polls are useless."

A person remembered, "You'te talking as if it wasn't your money and your nonstop, incessant pro-Trump tweets, that made him president."

The last user advised, "Elon, mend this between you and Trump. You both want the same thing you just have a different vision.  Work it out."
