"The president acknowledged the statement that Elon put out this morning and he is appreciative of it and we are continuing to focus on the business of the American people," she said.

When asked whether the administration had launched a review of Musk’s government contracts — something President Trump previously said he was considering — Leavitt clarified that no such action had been initiated.

"Currently have no efforts have been made on that front as far as I'm aware," she said.

Inside the Trump-Musk feud: From policy fallout to explosive accusations

The breakdown of the Trump-Musk relationship began when the Tesla CEO publicly condemned Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill” (OBBB), describing it as a “disgusting abomination.”

The proposed legislation, aimed at implementing major tax cuts, was projected to add approximately $3 trillion to the national debt. What followed was a high-profile clash between two global power players.

The fallout escalated when Musk resigned from his advisory role at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). He sharply criticized the bill, saying it would “burden America [sic] citizens with crushing, unsustainable debt.”

In response, Trump threatened to withdraw government subsidies and contracts linked to Musk’s businesses. Musk retaliated, asserting, “Without me, Trump would have lost the election, Dems would control the House and the Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate.”

“Such ingratitude,” Musk added.

He also amplified criticism of Trump by reposting content calling for the president’s impeachment.

Trump fired back, “Elon was ‘wearing thin’, I asked him to leave […] and he just went CRAZY!”

The most explosive moment came when Musk posted on X: “Time to drop the really big bomb:@realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!” The post was later deleted.

Trump attributed Musk’s hostility to the administration’s decision to end EV tax credits.

Despite Musk’s departure, Trump commented, “Elon's really not leaving. He's going to be back and forth, I think, I have a feeling.”

Musk, once considered a key ally and major donor to Trump’s campaign, fell out with the former president, prompting ex-Trump adviser Steve Bannon to call for his deportation and igniting heated debate in political circles.
